Book of Common Prayer
66 Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands!
2 Sing forth the honor of His name; make His praise glorious.
3 Say unto God, “How fearsome art Thou in Thy works! Through the greatness of Thy power shall Thine enemies submit themselves unto Thee.
4 All the earth shall worship Thee and shall sing unto Thee; they shall sing to Thy name.” Selah
5 Come and see the works of God; He is fearsome in His doings toward the children of men.
6 He turned the sea into dry land, they went through the flood on foot; there did we rejoice in Him.
7 He ruleth by His power for ever, His eyes behold the nations; let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah
8 O bless our God, ye people; and make the voice of His praise to be heard,
9 who holdeth our soul in life and alloweth not our feet to be moved.
10 For Thou, O God, hast tried us; Thou hast tried us as silver is tried.
11 Thou broughtest us into the net; Thou laidst affliction upon our loins.
12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water, but Thou broughtest us out into a fruitful place.
13 I will go into Thy house with burnt offerings; I will pay Thee my vows,
14 which my lips have uttered and my mouth hath spoken when I was in trouble.
15 I will offer unto Thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks and goats. Selah
16 Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what He hath done for my soul.
17 I cried unto Him with my mouth, and He was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.
19 But verily God hath heard me; He hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God, who hath not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me!
9 “Whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little.”
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will He speak to this people,
12 to whom He said, “This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest,” and, “This is the refreshing” — yet they would not hear.
13 But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little, that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken and snared and taken.
14 Therefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem,
15 because ye have said, “We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we in agreement. When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves.”
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God: “Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; he that believeth shall not make haste.
4 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love,
3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 There is one body and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8 Therefore He saith, “When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.”
9 (Now the saying, “He ascended” — what does it mean but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same who also ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things.)
11 And He gave some to be apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
12 for the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, and for the edifying of the body of Christ,
13 until we all come into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
14 that we henceforth be no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men and their cunning and craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, who is the Head, even Christ,
16 from whom the whole body, fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
116 I love the Lord, because He hath heard my voice and my supplications.
2 Because He hath inclined His ear unto me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.
3 The sorrows of death encompassed me, and the pains of hell got hold upon me; I found trouble and sorrow.
4 Then I called upon the name of the Lord: “O Lord, I beseech Thee, deliver my soul!”
5 Gracious is the Lord and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
6 The Lord preserveth the simple; I was brought low, and He helped me.
7 Return unto thy rest, O my soul, for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.
8 For Thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
9 I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.
10 I believed, therefore have I spoken: “I was greatly afflicted.”
11 I said in my haste, “All men are liars.”
12 What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me?
13 I will take the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord.
14 I will pay my vows unto the Lord now, in the presence of all His people.
15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.
16 O Lord, truly I am Thy servant; I am Thy servant and the son of Thine handmaid; Thou hast loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to Thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.
18 I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all His people,
19 in the courts of the Lord’s house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord!
117 O praise the Lord, all ye nations! Praise Him, all ye people!
2 For His merciful kindness is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord!
15 “If ye love Me, keep My commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever”
17 even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him. But ye know Him, for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 “I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while and the world seeth Me no more, but ye see Me. Because I live, ye shall live also.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.
21 He that hath My commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me; and he that loveth Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will manifest Myself to him.”
22 Judas (not Iscariot) said unto Him, “Lord, how is it that Thou wilt manifest Thyself unto us, and not unto the world?”
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, “If a man love Me, he will keep My words; and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him and make Our abode with him.
24 He that loveth Me not, keepeth not My sayings. And the Word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.
25 “These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, who is the Holy Ghost whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, ‘I go away and come again unto you.’ If ye loved Me, ye would rejoice because I said, ‘I go unto the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
30 “Hereafter I will not talk much with you, for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in Me.
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, as the Father gave Me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
