Book of Common Prayer
118 O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endureth for ever!
2 Let Israel now say that His mercy endureth for ever.
3 Let the house of Aaron now say that His mercy endureth for ever.
4 Let them that fear the Lord now say that His mercy endureth for ever.
5 I called upon the Lord in distress; the Lord answered me, and set me in an ample place.
6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do unto me?
7 The Lord taketh my part among them that help me; therefore shall I see what I desire upon them that hate me.
8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.
10 All the nations compassed me about, but in the name of the Lord will I destroy them.
11 They compassed me about, yea, they compassed me about; but in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
12 They compassed me about like bees, they are quenched as the fire of thorns; for in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
13 Thou hast thrust sorely at me that I might fall, but the Lord helped me.
14 The Lord is my strength and song, and has become my salvation.
15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous; the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly.
16 The right hand of the Lord is exalted; the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly.
17 I shall not die, but live and declare the works of the Lord.
18 The Lord hath chastened me sorely, but He hath not given me over unto death.
19 Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord”
20 this gate of the Lord, into which the righteous shall enter.
21 I will praise Thee, for Thou hast heard me and art become my salvation.
22 The stone which the builders refused has become the head stone of the corner.
23 This is the Lord’S doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
25 Save now, I beseech Thee, O Lord; O Lord, I beseech Thee, send now prosperity.
26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord! We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.
27 God is the Lord, who hath shown us light; bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.
28 Thou art my God, and I will praise Thee; Thou art my God, I will exalt Thee.
29 O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever!
145 I will extol Thee, my God, O King; and I will bless Thy name for ever and ever.
2 Every day will I bless Thee, and I will praise Thy name for ever and ever.
3 Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable.
4 One generation shall praise Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts.
5 I will speak of the glorious honor of Thy majesty, and of Thy wondrous works.
6 And men shall speak of the might of Thy fearsome acts, and I will declare Thy greatness.
7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of Thy great goodness, and shall sing of Thy righteousness.
8 The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and of great mercy.
9 The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.
10 All Thy works shall praise Thee, O Lord, and Thy saints shall bless Thee.
11 They shall speak of the glory of Thy Kingdom and talk of Thy power,
12 to make known to the sons of men His mighty acts and the glorious majesty of His Kingdom.
13 Thy Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and Thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.
14 The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all wait upon Thee, and Thou givest them their meat in due season.
16 Thou openest Thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His works.
18 The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.
19 He will fulfill the desire of them that fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them.
20 The Lord preserveth all them that love Him, but all the wicked will He destroy.
21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and let all flesh bless His holy name for ever and ever.
19 In that day shall there be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt and a pillar at the border thereof to the Lord.
20 And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they shall cry unto the Lord because of the oppressors, and He shall send them a savior and a great one, and He shall deliver them.
21 And the Lord shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the Lord in that day and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the Lord and perform it.
22 And the Lord shall smite Egypt; He shall smite and heal it; and they shall return even to the Lord, and He shall be entreated by them and shall heal them.
23 In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.
24 In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land,
25 whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, “Blessed be Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel Mine inheritance.”
5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another, according to Christ Jesus,
6 that ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 Therefore receive ye one another as Christ also received us, to the glory of God.
8 Now I say, that Jesus Christ was a minister of the Circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers,
9 and that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy; as it is written: “For this cause I will confess to Thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto Thy name.”
10 And again he saith, “Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with His people.”
11 And again, “Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles, and laud Him, all ye people.”
12 And again Isaiah saith, “There shall be a Root of Jesse, and He that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles, in Him shall the Gentiles trust.”
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost.
11 And as they heard these things, He added and spoke a parable, because He was nigh to Jerusalem and because they thought that the Kingdom of God should immediately appear.
12 He said therefore, “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 And he called his ten servants and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, ‘Make use of it till I come.’
14 But his citizens hated him and sent a message after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’
15 And it came to pass that when he had returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
16 Then came the first, saying, ‘Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.’
17 And he said unto him, ‘Well done, thou good servant; because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.’
18 And the second came, saying, ‘Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.’
19 And he said likewise to him, ‘Be thou also over five cities.’
20 And another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid away in a napkin.
21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up what thou layest not down, and reapest what thou did not sow.’
22 And he said unto him, ‘Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up what I laid not down and reaping what I did not sow.
23 Why then gavest not thou my money unto the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with interest?’
24 And he said unto them that stood by, ‘Take from him the pound and give it to him that hath ten pounds.’
25 (And they said unto him, ‘Lord, he hath ten pounds!’)
26 ‘For I say unto you, that unto every one that hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away from him.
27 But those mine enemies, who would not that I should reign over them, bring them hither and slay them before me.’”
