Psalm 132

132 1 The faithful grounding on God’s promise made unto David, desire that he would establish the same, both as touching his posterity, and the building of the Temple, to pray there as was forspoken, Deut. 12:5.

A song of degrees.

Lord, remember David with all his [a]affliction,

Who sware unto the Lord, and vowed unto the mighty God, of Jacob, saying,

I [b]will not enter into the Tabernacle of mine house, nor come upon my pallet or bed,

Nor suffer mine eyes to sleep, nor mine eyelids to slumber,

Until I find out a place for the [c]Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

Lo, we heard of it in [d]Ephrathah, and found it in the fields of the forest.

We will enter into his Tabernacles, and worship before his footstool.

Arise, O Lord, to come into thy [e]rest, thou, and the Ark of thy strength.

Let thy Priests be clothed with [f]righteousness, and let thy Saints rejoice.

10 For thy [g]servant David’s sake refuse not the face of thine Anointed.

11 The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David, and he will not shrink from it, saying, Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

12 If thy sons keep my Covenant, and my testimonies, that I shall teach them, their sons also shall sit upon thy throne [h]forever.

13 For the Lord hath chosen Zion, and loved to dwell in it, saying,

14 This is my rest forever: here will I dwell, for I have a [i]delight therein.

15 I will surely bless her vittles, and will satisfy her poor with bread,

16 And will clothe her Priests with [j]salvation, and her Saints shall shout for joy.

17 There will I make the [k]horn of David to bud: for I have ordained a light for mine Anointed.

18 His enemies will I clothe with shame, but on him his crown shall flourish.

Isaiah 11:1-10

11 1 Christ born of the root of Jesse. 2 His virtues and kingdom. 6 The fruits of the Gospel. 10 The calling of the Gentiles.

But there shall come a [a]rod forth of the stock of Jesse, and a grass shall grow out of his roots.

And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him: the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength, the Spirit of knowledge, and of the fear of the Lord,

And shall make him prudent in the fear of the Lord: for he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove by the hearing of his ears.

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and with equity shall he reprove for the meek of the earth: and he shall [b]smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

And justice shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

The [c]wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie with the kid, and the calf, and the lion, and the fat beast together, and a little child shall lead them.

And the cow and the bear shall feed: their young ones shall lie together: and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock.

And the sucking child shall play upon the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand upon the cockatrice hole.

Then shall none hurt nor destroy in all the mountain of mine holiness: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as [d]the waters that cover the sea.

10 And in that day the root of Jesse, which shall stand up for a sign unto the [e]people, the nations shall seek unto it, and his [f]rest shall be glorious.

Hebrews 2:11-18

11 [a]For he that [b]sanctifieth, and they which are sanctified, are all of [c]one: wherefore he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12 [d]Saying, (A)I will declare thy Name unto my brethren: in the midst of the Church will I sing praises to thee.

13 [e]And again, (B)I will put my [f]trust in him. And again, (C)[g]Behold, here am I, and the children which God hath given me.

14 Forasmuch then as the children are [h]partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part with them, that he might destroy (D)through death, him that had the [i]power of death, that is, the [j]devil,

15 And that he might deliver all them, which for fear of [k]death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

16 [l]For he in no sort took on him the [m]Angels’ nature, but he took on him the [n]seed of Abraham.

17 [o]Wherefore in [p]all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be [q]merciful, and a [r]faithful high Priest in things concerning God, that he might make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

18 For in that he suffered, and was [s]tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted.
