21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
Version
Psalm 1-4

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful;

but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Why do the heathen rage, and the people devise a vain thing?

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,

“Let us break Their bonds asunder, and cast away Their cords from us.”

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision.

Then shall He speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure:

“Yet have I set My King upon My holy hill of Zion.”

“I will declare the decree: The Lord hath said unto Me, ‘Thou art My Son; this day have I begotten Thee.

Ask of Me, and I shall give Thee the heathen for Thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for Thy possession.

Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’”

10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings; be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

11 Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.

Lord, how they have increased that trouble me! Many are they that rise up against me!

Many there be that say of my soul, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah

But Thou, O Lord, art a shield for me, my glory and the lifter up of mine head.

I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill. Selah

I laid me down and slept; I awaked, for the Lord sustained me.

I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that have set themselves against me round about.

Arise, O Lord! Save me, O my God! For Thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheekbone; Thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

Salvation belongeth unto the Lord. Thy blessing is upon Thy people. Selah

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! Thou hast set me at large when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? How long will ye love vanity and seek after lies? Selah

But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for Himself; the Lord will hear when I call unto Him.

Stand in awe, and sin not; commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.

There are many that say, “Who will show us any good?” Lord, lift Thou up the light of Thy countenance upon us.

Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time when their corn and wine increased.

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for Thou Lord only, makest me dwell in safety.

Psalm 7

O Lord my God, in Thee do I put my trust. Save me from all them that persecute me; and deliver me,

lest they tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces while there is none to deliver.

O Lord my God, if I have done this, if there be iniquity on my hands,

if I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy),

let the enemy persecute my soul and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honor in the dust. Selah

Arise, O Lord, in Thine anger; lift up Thyself against the rage of mine enemies, and awaken for me the judgment that Thou hast commanded.

So shall the congregation of the people compass Thee about; for their sakes, therefore, return Thou on high.

The Lord shall judge the people: Judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to mine integrity that is in me.

O let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the just; for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.

10 My defense is of God, who saveth the upright in heart.

11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

12 If he turn not, He will whet His sword; He hath bent His bow and made it ready.

13 He hath also prepared for Him the instruments of death; He ordaineth His arrows against the persecutors.

14 Behold, the wicked travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief and brought forth falsehood.

15 He made a pit and dug it, and has fallen into the ditch which he hath made.

16 His mischief shall return upon his own head; and his violent dealings shall come down upon his own pate.

17 I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.

Ruth 1:1-18

Now it came to pass, in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons.

And the name of the man was Elimelech and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.

And Elimelech, Naomi’s husband, died; and she was left, and her two sons.

And they took themselves wives of the women of Moab: the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth. And they dwelt there about ten years.

And Mahlon and Chilion died also, both of them; and the woman was left without her two sons and her husband.

Then she arose with her daughters-in-law, that she might return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the country of Moab how the Lord had visited His people in giving them bread.

Therefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.

And Naomi said unto her two daughters-in-law, “Go, return each to your mother’s house. The Lord deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead and with me.

The Lord grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband.” Then she kissed them, and they lifted up their voice and wept.

10 And they said unto her, “Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.”

11 And Naomi said, “Turn back, my daughters. Why will ye go with me? Are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?

12 Turn back, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have a husband. If I should say I have hope, if I should have a husband also tonight and should also bear sons,

13 would ye tarry for them until they were grown? Would ye refrain for them from having husbands? Nay, my daughters, for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord has gone out against me.”

14 And they lifted up their voice and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth cleaved unto her.

15 And she said, “Behold, thy sister-in-law has gone back unto her people and unto her gods. Return thou after thy sister-in-law.”

16 And Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee; for whither thou goest, I will go, and where thou lodgest, I will lodge. Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.

17 Where thou diest will I die, and there will I be buried; the Lord do so to me, and more also, if aught but death part thee and me.”

18 When she saw that she was steadfastly minded to go with her, then she left off speaking unto her.

1 Timothy 1:1-17

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Savior, and Lord Jesus Christ, who is our hope,

Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

As I besought thee when I went into Macedonia to abide still at Ephesus, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which promote questions rather than godly edifying in the faith, so do!

Now the aim of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, with a good conscience and with faith unfeigned,

from which some have swerved and have turned aside unto vain jangling,

desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor whereof they affirm.

But we know that the law is good if a man use it lawfully,

knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

10 for whoremongers, for those who defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine

11 according to the glorious Gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, that He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry—

13 I, who was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and injurious. But I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief;

14 and the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant with faith and love, which are in Christ Jesus.

15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

16 Nonetheless, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering as a pattern for those who should hereafter believe in Him to life everlasting.

17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Luke 13:1-9

13 There were present at that season some who told Him of the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

And Jesus answering said unto them, “Suppose ye that these Galileans were sinners above all the other Galileans, because they suffered such things?

I tell you, nay; but unless ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Or those eighteen upon whom the tower of Siloam fell and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all other men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

I tell you, nay; but unless ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

He spoke also this parable: “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

Then said he unto the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Behold, these three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down. Why cumbereth it the ground?’

And he answering said unto him, ‘Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig around it and dung it.

And if it bear fruit, well; and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.’”
