and a branch(B) from his roots will bear fruit.
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him(C)

His delight will be in the fear of the Lord.
He will not judge

1 Corinthians 2:1-13

Paul’s Proclamation

When I came to you, brothers, announcing the testimony[a] of God to you, I did not come with brilliance(A) of speech(B) or wisdom. For I didn’t think it was a good idea to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.(C) I came to you in weakness,(D) in fear,(E) and in much trembling.(F) My speech(G) and my proclamation were not with persuasive(H) words of wisdom[b] but with a powerful demonstration by the Spirit, so that your faith might not be based on men’s wisdom but on God’s power.(I)

Spiritual Wisdom

However, we do speak a wisdom among the mature,(J) but not a wisdom of this age, or of the rulers(K) of this age, who are coming to nothing.(L) On the contrary, we speak God’s hidden wisdom in a mystery, a wisdom God predestined(M) before the ages for our glory.(N) None of the rulers of this age knew this wisdom, for if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.(O) But as it is written:

What eye did not see and ear did not hear,
and what never entered the human mind—
God prepared this for those who love Him.(P)[c]

10 Now God has revealed these things to us by the Spirit, for the Spirit searches everything,(Q) even the depths of God.(R) 11 For who among men knows the thoughts[d] of a man except the spirit(S) of the man that is in him? In the same way, no one knows(T) the thoughts[e] of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God. 13 We also speak these things, not in words(U) taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people.[f]

John 14:21-29

21 The one who has My commands and keeps them is the one who loves Me.(A) And the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father.(B) I also will love him and will reveal Myself to him.”

22 Judas(C) (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it You’re going to reveal Yourself to us and not to the world?”(D)

23 Jesus answered, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.(E) 24 The one who doesn’t love Me will not keep My words. The word that you hear is not Mine but is from the Father who sent Me.(F)

25 “I have spoken these things to you while I remain with you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit(G)—the Father will send(H) Him in My name—will teach you all things(I) and remind you of everything I have told you.(J)

Jesus’ Gift of Peace

27 “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.(K) 28 You have heard Me tell you, ‘I am going away(L) and I am coming to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced that I am going to the Father,(M) because the Father is greater than I.(N) 29 I have told you now before it happens(O) so that when it does happen you may believe.
