Psalm 105

105 1 He praiseth the singular grace of God, who hath of all the people of the world chosen a peculiar people to himself, and having chosen them, never ceaseth to do them good, even for his promise’s sake.

Praise the Lord, and call upon his Name: [a]declare his works among the people.

Sing unto him, sing praise unto him, and talk of all his wondrous works.

Rejoice in his holy Name, let the heart of them that seek the Lord, rejoice.

Seek the Lord and his [b]strength: seek his face continually.

Remember his [c]marvelous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the [d]judgments of his mouth,

Ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob, which are his elect.

He is the Lord our God: his judgments are through all the earth.

He hath always remembered his covenant, and promise, that he made to a thousand generations,

Even that which he [e]made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac:

10 And since hath confirmed it to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

11 Saying, [f]Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance.

12 Albeit they were few in number, yea very few, and strangers in the land,

13 And walked about from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,

14 Yet suffered he no man to do them wrong, but reproved [g]Kings for their sakes, saying,

15 Touch not mine [h]anointed, and do my [i]Prophets no harm.

16 Moreover, he called a famine upon the land, and utterly brake the [j]staff of bread.

17 But he sent a man before them: Joseph was sold for a slave.

18 They held his feet in the stocks, and he was laid in irons,

19 Until [k]his appointed time came, and the counsel of the Lord had tried him.

20 The King sent and loosed him: even the Ruler of the people delivered him.

21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance,

22 That he should bind his [l]princes unto his will, and teach his Ancients wisdom.

23 Then Israel came to Egypt, and Jacob was a stranger in the land of Ham.

24 And he increased his people exceedingly, and made them stronger than their oppressors.

25 [m]He turned their heart to hate his people, and to deal craftily with his servants.

26 Then sent he Moses his servant, and Aaron whom he had chosen.

27 They showed among them the message of his signs, and wonders in the land of Ham.

28 He sent darkness, and made it dark: and they were not [n]disobedient unto his commission.

29 (A)He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.

30 (B)Their land brought forth frogs, even in their King’s chambers.

31 He [o]spake, and there came swarms of flies and lice in all their quarters.

32 He gave them [p]hail for rain, and flames of fire in their land.

33 He smote their vines also and their fig trees, and brake down the trees in their coasts.

34 [q]He spake and the grasshoppers came, and caterpillars innumerable,

35 And did eat up all the grass in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.

36 (C)He smote also all the firstborn in their land, even the beginning of all their strength.

37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold, and there was [r]none feeble among their tribes.

38 Egypt was [s]glad at their departing: for the fear of them had fallen upon them.

39 He spread a cloud to be a covering, and fire to give light in the night.

40 They [t]asked, and he brought quails, and he filled them with the bread of heaven.

41 He opened the rock, and the water flowed out, and ran in the dry places like a river.

42 For he remembered his holy [u]promise to Abraham his servant,

43 And he brought forth his people with [v]joy, and his chosen with gladness,

44 And gave them the lands of the heathen, and they took the labors of the people in possession,

45 That they might [w]keep his statutes, and observe his Laws. Praise ye the Lord.

Ezekiel 18:1-4

18 2 He showeth that every man shall bear his own sin. 21 To him that amendeth, salvation is promised. 24 Death is prophesied to the righteous, which turneth back from the right way.

The word of the Lord came unto me again, saying,

What mean ye that ye speak this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, [a]The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?

As I live, saith the Lord God, ye shall use this proverb no more in Israel.

Behold, all souls are mine, both the soul of the father, and also the soul of the son are mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

Ezekiel 18:19-32

19 Yet say ye, Wherefore shall not the son bear the iniquity of the father? because the son hath executed judgment and justice, and hath kept all my statutes, and done them, he shall surely live.

20 (A)The same soul that sinneth, shall die: the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son, but the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

21 But if the wicked will return from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my [a]statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, and shall not die.

22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be [b]mentioned unto him, but in his [c]righteousness that he hath done, he shall live.

23 [d]Have I any desire that the wicked should die, saith the Lord God? [e]or shall he not live, if he return from his ways?

24 But if the righteous turn away from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and do according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? all his [f]righteousness that he hath done, shall not be mentioned: but in his transgression that he hath committed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

25 Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not [g]equal: hear now, O house of Israel. Is not my way equal? or are not your ways unequal?

26 For when a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and commiteth iniquity, he shall even die for the same, he shall even die for his iniquity that he hath done.

27 Again, when the wicked turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.

28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, and shall not die.

29 Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? or are not your ways unequal?

30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, everyone according to his ways, saith the Lord God: return therefore, and cause others to turn away from all your transgressions: so iniquity shall not be your destruction.

31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed and make [h]you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

32 For I desire not the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God: cause therefore one another to return, and live ye.

Hebrews 7:18-28

18 [a]For the [b]commandment that went afore, is disannulled, because of the weakness thereof, and unprofitableness.

19 For the Law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope made perfect, whereby we draw near unto God.

20 [c]And forasmuch as it is not without an oath (for these are made Priests without an oath:

21 But this is made with an oath by him that said unto him, (A)The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a Priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.)

22 By so much is Jesus made a surety of a better Testament.

23 [d]And among them many were made Priests, because they were not suffered to endure, by the reason of death.

24 But this man, because he endureth ever, hath a Priesthood, which [e]cannot pass from one to another.

25 Wherefore, he is [f]able also perfectly to save them that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth, to make intercession for them.

26 [g]For such an high Priest it became us to have, which is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens:

27 Which needeth not daily as those high Priests to offer up sacrifice, (B)first for his own sins, and then for the peoples: [h]for [i]that did he [j]once, when he offered up himself.

28 For the Law maketh men high Priests, which have infirmity: but the [k]word of the oath [l]that [m]was since the Law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

Luke 10:25-37

25 (A)[a]Then behold, [b]a certain Lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26 And he said unto him, What is written in the Law? how readest thou?

27 And he answered and said, (B)Thou shalt love thy Lord God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy thought, (C)and thy neighbor as thyself.

28 Then he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29 [c]But he willing to [d]justify himself, said unto Jesus, Who is then my neighbor?

30 And Jesus answered, and said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, and they robbed him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 Now so it fell out, that there came down a certain Priest that same way, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise also a Levite, when he was come near to the place, went and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 Then a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came near unto him, and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds and poured in oil and wine, and put him on his own beast, and brought him to an Inn, and made provision for him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him, and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will recompense thee.

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
