Psalm 25

25 1 The Prophet touched with the consideration of his sins, and also grieved with the cruel malice of his enemies,  6 Prayeth to God most fervently to have his sins forgiven. 7 Especially such as he had committed in his youth.  He beginneth every verse according to the Hebrew letters, two or three except.

A Psalm of David.

Unto thee, [a]O Lord, lift I up my soul.

My God, I [b]trust in thee; let me not be confounded: let not mine enemies rejoice over me.

(A)So all that hope in thee, shall not be ashamed; but let them be confounded, that transgress without cause.

[c]Show me thy ways, O Lord, and teach me thy paths.

Lead me forth in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation: in thee do I trust [d]all the day.

Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies, and thy lovingkindness: for they have been forever.

Remember not the [e]sins of my youth, nor my rebellions, but according to thy kindness remember thou me, even for thy goodness sake, O Lord.

Gracious and righteous is the Lord: therefore will he [f]teach sinners in the way.

Them that be meek, will he [g]guide in judgment, and teach the humble his way.

10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies:

11 For thy [h]Name’s sake, O Lord, be merciful unto mine iniquity, for it is great.

12 What [i]man is he that feareth the Lord? him will he teach the way that he shall [j]choose.

13 His soul shall dwell at [k]ease, and his seed shall inherit the land.

14 The [l]secret of the Lord is revealed to them that fear him: and his Covenant to give them understanding.

15 Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord: for he will bring my feet out of the net.

16 Turn thy face unto me, and have mercy upon me: for I am desolate and poor.

17 The sorrows of mine heart [m]are enlarged: draw me out of my troubles.

18 Look upon mine affliction and my travail, and forgive all my sins.

19 Behold mine [n]enemies, for they are many, and they hate me with cruel hatred.

20 Keep my soul and deliver me: let me not be confounded: for I trust in thee.

21 Let [o]mine uprightness and equity preserve me; for mine hope is in thee.

22 Deliver Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

Psalm 9

1 After he had given thanks to God for the sundry victories that he had sent him against his enemies, and also proved by manifold experience, how ready God was at hand in all his troubles. 14 He being now likewise in danger of new enemies, desireth God to help him according to his wont, 17 and to destroy the malicious arrogance of his adversaries.

To him that excelleth upon [a]Muth Labben. A Psalm of David.

I will praise the Lord with my [b]whole heart: I will speak of all thy marvelous works.

I will be glad, and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy Name, O most High.

For that mine enemies are turned back: they shall fall and perish at thy presence.

For [c]thou hast maintained my right and my cause: thou art set in the throne, and judgest right.

Thou hast rebuked the heathen: thou hast destroyed the wicked: thou hast put out their name forever and ever.

[d]O enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end, and thou hast destroyed the cities: their memorial is perished with them.

But the Lord [e]shall sit forever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.

For he shall judge the world in righteousness, and shall judge the people with equity.

The Lord also will be a refuge for the [f]poor, a refuge in due time, even in affliction.

10 And they that know thy Name, will trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not failed them that seek thee.

11 Sing praises to the Lord, which dwelleth in Zion: show the people his works.

12 For [g]when he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth it, and forgetteth not the complaint of the poor.

13 Have mercy upon me, O Lord: consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death,

14 That I may show all thy praises within the [h]gates of the daughter of Zion, and rejoice in thy salvation.

15 The heathen are [i]sunken down in the pit that they made: in the net that they hid, is their foot taken.

16 [j]The Lord is known by executing judgment: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands, [k]Higgaion. Selah.

17 The wicked shall turn into hell, and all nations that forget God.

18 For the poor shall not be always forgotten: the hope [l]of the afflicted shall not perish forever.

19 Up Lord: let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight.

20 Put them in fear, O Lord, that the heathen may know that they are but [m]men. Selah.

Psalm 15

15 1 This Psalm teacheth on what condition God did choose the Jews for his peculiar people; and wherefore he placed his Temple among them, which was to the intent that they by living uprightly and godly, might witness that they were his special and holy people.

A Psalm of David.

Lord, who shall dwell in thy Tabernacle? who shall rest in thine holy Mountain?

He that [a]walketh uprightly and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

He that slandereth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbor, nor receiveth a false report against his neighbor.

[b]In whose eyes a vile person is contemned, but he honoreth them that fear the Lord: he that sweareth to his own hindrance and changeth not.

He that [c]giveth not his money unto usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent: he that doeth these things, [d]shall never be moved.

Daniel 4:19-27

19 It is thou, O king, that art great and mighty: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the ends of the earth.

20 Whereas the King saw a watchman, and an holy one that came down from heaven, and said, Hew down the tree, and destroy it, yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, and with a band of iron and brass bind it among the grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, [a]till seven times pass over him.

21 This is the interpretation, O king, and it is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king,

22 That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as the [b]oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven: and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know, that [c]the most High beareth rule over the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

23 Whereas they said, that one should leave the stump of the tree roots, thy kingdom shall remain unto thee: after that, thou shalt know, that the heavens have the rule.

24 Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and [d]break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by mercy towards the poor: lo, let there be a [e]healing of thine error.

25 All these things shall come upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.

26 ¶ At the end of twelve [f]months, he walked in the royal palace of Babel.

27 And the king spake and said, Is not this great Babel that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?

1 John 3:19-4:6

19 [a]For thereby we know that we are of the truth, [b]and shall before him assure our hearts.

20 For [c]if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

21 [d]Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we boldness toward God.

22 (A)[e]And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things which are pleasing in his sight.

23 (B)This is then his commandment, that we believe in the Name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave commandment.

24 (C)For he that keepeth his commandments, dwelleth in him, and he in him: and hereby we know that he abideth in us, even by that [f]Spirit which he hath given us.

1 Having spoken somewhat touching the trying of spirits: 4 For some speak after the world, 5 and some after God. 7 He returneth to charity, 11, 19 and by the example of God he exhorteth to brotherly love.

Dearly [g]beloved, believe not every [h]spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: for many false Prophets are gone out into the world.

[i]Hereby shall ye know the Spirit of God, [j]Every spirit which confesseth that [k]Jesus Christ is come in the [l]flesh is of God.

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not of God: but this is the spirit of Antichrist, of whom ye have heard, how that he should come, and now already he is in this world.

[m]Little children, ye are of God, and have overcome them: for greater is he that is in you, than he that is in this world.

[n]They are of this world, therefore spake they of this world, and this world heareth them.

[o]We are of God, (D)he that knoweth God, heareth us: he that is not of God heareth us not. Hereby know we the [p]Spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Luke 4:14-30

14 ¶ And Jesus returned by the power of the spirit into Galilee: and there went a fame of him throughout all the region round about:

15 For he taught in their Synagogues, and was honored of all men.

16 (A)[a]And he came to Nazareth where he had been brought up, and (as his custom was) went into the Synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the Prophet Isaiah: and when he had [b]opened the book, he found the place, where it was written,

18 (B)The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me, that I should preach the Gospel to the poor: he hath sent me, that I should heal the brokenhearted, that I should preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, that I should set at liberty them that are bruised:

19 And that I should preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and gave it again to the minister, and sat down: and the eyes of all that were in the Synagogue were fastened on him.

21 Then he began to say unto them, This day is the Scripture fulfilled in your ears.

22 [c]And all [d]bare him witness, and [e]wondered at the [f]gracious words, which proceeded out of his mouth, and said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

23 Then he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this Proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do it here likewise in thine own country.

24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, (C)No Prophet is accepted in his own country.

25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of (D)Elijah, when heaven was shut three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the [g]land:

26 But unto none of them was Elijah sent, save into Zarephath, a city of Sidon, unto a certain widow.

27 Also many lepers were in Israel, in the time of (E)Elisha the Prophet: yet none of them was made clean, saving Naaman the Syrian.

28 [h]Then all that were in the Synagogue, when they heard it, were filled with wrath,

29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the edge of the hill, whereon their city was built, to cast him down headlong.

30 But he passed through the midst of them, and went his way,
