Psalm 72

A Psalm for Solomon.

¶ Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s son.

¶ He shall judge thy people with righteousness and thy poor with judgment.

The mountains shall bring peace to the people and the little hills by righteousness.

He shall judge the poor of the people; he shall save the children of the destitute and shall break in pieces the violent.

They shall fear thee along with the sun and before the moon throughout all generations.

He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass as the dew that waters the earth.

In his days shall righteousness flourish and abundance of peace until there is no longer any moon.

He shall have dominion also from sea to sea and from the river unto the ends of the earth.

Those that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him, and his enemies shall lick the dust.

10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents; the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him; all Gentiles shall serve him.

12 For he shall deliver the destitute when he cries and the poor that has no helper.

13 He shall have mercy on the poor and destitute and shall save the souls of the poor in spirit.

14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence, and precious shall their blood be in his sight.

15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba; prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily he shall be given blessings.

16 There shall be planted a handful of grain in the earth upon the tops of the mountains; its fruit shall thunder like Lebanon; and out of the city they shall blossom like the grass of the earth.

17 His name shall endure for ever; before the sun his name shall be disseminated, and all Gentiles shall be blessed in him; they shall call him blessed.

18 ¶ Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, the only one who does wondrous things

19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever, and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

Psalm 119:73-96

JOD.

73 ¶ Thy hands have made me and fashioned me; give me understanding, and I shall learn thy commandments.

74 ¶ Those that fear thee will be glad when they see me because I have waited on thy word.

75 ¶ I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.

76 ¶ Let, I pray thee, thy mercy be for my comfort, according to thy spoken word unto thy slave.

77 Let thy mercy come unto me, that I may live, for thy law is my delight.

78 ¶ Let the proud be ashamed, for they dealt perversely with me without a cause, but I will meditate in thy precepts.

79 Let those that fear thee turn unto me and those that have known thy testimonies.

80 ¶ Let my heart be perfect in thy statutes that I not be ashamed.

CAPH.

81 ¶ My soul faints with desire for thy salvation as I await thy word.

82 Mine eyes fail for thy spoken word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?

83 ¶ For I am become like a wine skin in the smoke; yet I have not forgotten thy statutes.

84 ¶ How many are the days of thy slave? When wilt thou execute judgment on those that persecute me?

85 ¶ The proud have dug pits for me, but they do not proceed according to thy law.

86 All thy commandments are of the same truth; they persecute me wrongfully; help me.

87 They have almost consumed me upon earth, but I have not forsaken thy precepts.

88 ¶ Cause me to live according to thy mercy, so I shall keep the testimony of thy mouth.

LAMED.

89 ¶ For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in the heavens.

90 Thy truth is from generation to generation; thou hast established the earth, and it perseveres.

91 They persevere unto this day by thy ordinance; for they are all thy slaves.

92 ¶ Unless thy law had been my delight, I should have perished in my affliction.

93 ¶ I will never forget thy precepts; for with them thou hast caused me to live.

94 ¶ I am thine, keep me; for I have sought thy precepts.

95 ¶ The wicked have waited for me to destroy me, but I will consider thy testimonies.

96 ¶ I have seen an end of all perfection, but thy commandment is exceeding broad.

Isaiah 54

54 ¶ Rejoice, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud with joy, thou that didst not travail with child: for more shall be the sons of the desolate than the sons of the married wife, said the LORD.

Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;

for thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left, and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.

For thy Maker shall be thine husband; the LORD of the hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

¶ For as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit has the LORD called thee, and as a young woman who is put away, said thy God.

For a small moment I have forsaken thee; but with great mercies I will gather thee.

In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with eternal mercy I will have compassion on thee, said the LORD thy Redeemer.

For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so I have sworn that I would not be wroth again with thee, nor reprehend thee.

10 For the mountains shall be removed, and the hills shall tremble; but my mercy shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be changed, said the LORD that has mercy on thee.

11 ¶ O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will cement thy stones upon carbuncle and lay thy foundations upon sapphires.

12 And I will make thy windows of precious stones, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of stones of great price.

13 And all thy sons shall be taught of the LORD; and the peace of thy sons shall be multiplied.

14 With righteousness shalt thou be adorned: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear it; and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.

15 If anyone should conspire against thee, it shall be without me, whosoever would conspire against thee shall fall before thee.

16 Behold, I have created the smith that blows the coals in the fire, and that brings forth the instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.

17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the slaves of the LORD, and their justice from me, said the LORD.

Galatians 4:21-31

21 ¶ Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, have ye not heard the law?

22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.

23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, but he of the freewoman was born through the promise.

24 Which things are an allegory; for these women are the two covenants: the one from the Mount Sinai, which begat unto slavery, which is Hagar.

25 For this Hagar or Sinai is a mount in Arabia, which corresponds to the one that is now Jerusalem, which together with her children is in slavery.

26 But the Jerusalem of above is free, which is the mother of us all.

27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth into praise and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate has many more children than she who has a husband.

28 So that we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

29 But as then he that was born according to the flesh persecuted him that was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now.

30 Nevertheless what does the scripture say? Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.

31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

Mark 8:11-26

11 And the Pharisees came forth and began to argue with him, demanding of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

12 And crying out in his spirit, he said, Why does this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

13 And he left them and, entering into the ship again, departed to the other side.

14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.

15 And he commanded them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the leaven of Herod.

16 And they argued among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.

17 And as Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why argue ye because ye have no bread? Do ye not consider nor understand? is your heart yet blind?

18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

19 When I broke the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They said unto him, Twelve.

20 And when the seven loaves among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not yet understand?

22 ¶ And he came to Bethsaida, and they bring a blind man unto him and beseech him to touch him.

23 So, taking the blind man by the hand, he led him out of the town; and spitting into his eyes and putting his hands upon them, he asked him if he saw anything.

24 And looking, he said, I see men; I see that they walk as trees.

25 After that, he put his hands again upon his eyes and caused him to see; and he was whole and saw everyone, far away and clearly.

26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.
