Book of Common Prayer
1 ¶ Halelu-JAH. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens; praise him in the heights.
2 Praise ye him, all his angels; praise ye him, all his hosts.
3 Praise ye him, sun and moon; praise him, all ye stars of light.
4 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens and ye waters that are above the heavens.
5 Let them praise the name of the LORD; for he commanded, and they were created.
6 He has established them for ever and ever: he has made a law which shall not be broken.
7 ¶ Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons and all deeps,
8 fire and hail; snow and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling his word,
9 mountains and all hills; fruitful trees and all cedars,
10 beasts and all animals; creeping things and flying fowl,
11 kings of the earth and all the peoples, princes and all judges of the earth,
12 both young men and maidens, the old with the children,
13 Let them praise the name of the LORD; for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above earth and heavens.
He
14 has exalted the horn of his people; let all his merciful ones praise him; even of the sons of Israel, the people near unto him. Halelu-JAH.
1 ¶ Halelu-JAH. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts; praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the shofar; praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance; praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals; praise him upon the cymbals of joy.
6 Let every thing that has breath praise JAH. Halelu-JAH.
1 ¶ He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my hope and my fortress: my God; in him will I secure myself.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler and from the mortal pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings thou shalt be secure: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 Thousands shall fall at thy side and ten thousands at thy right hand, but it shall not come near thee.
8 Surely with thine eyes thou shalt behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 ¶ Because thou hast made the LORD, who is my hope, even the most High, thy habitation,
10 no evil shall befall thee, neither shall any plague come near thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands lest thy foot stumble against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he has set his will upon me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high because he has known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and glorify him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my saving health.
A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day.
1 ¶ It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
2 To show forth thy mercy in the morning and thy faithfulness every night
3 upon an instrument of ten strings and upon the psaltery, upon the harp with a pleasant sound.
4 For thou, O LORD, hast made me glad with thy work; I will delight in the works of thy hands.
5 O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
6 A carnal man does not know, neither does a fool understand this:
7 ¶ The wicked spring forth as the grass, and all the workers of iniquity blossom, so that they shall be destroyed for ever:
8 But thou, O LORD, art most high for evermore.
9 For, behold, thine enemies, O LORD, for behold, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn; I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
11 And my eye saw my desire on my enemies, and my ears heard my desire of those that rose up against me, of the wicked.
12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those that are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be vigorous and flourishing
15 to show that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
13 Therefore thus has the Lord GOD said, Behold, my slaves shall eat, but ye shall be hungry; behold, my slaves shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty; behold, my slaves shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:
14 Behold, my slaves shall rejoice by the joy of their heart, but ye shall cry for the sorrow of your heart and shall howl for the destruction of spirit.
15 And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen; for the Lord GOD shall slay thee and call his slaves by another name.
16 He who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth because the former troubles shall be forgotten and shall be covered from my eyes.
7 ¶ And to the angel of the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} in Philadelphia write; These things, saith he that is Holy and True, he who has the key of David, who opens and no one shuts and shuts, and no one opens;
8 I know thy works; behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no one can shut it, for thou hast a little strength and hast kept my word and hast not denied my name.
9 Behold, I give of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but do lie; behold, I will constrain them to come and worship before thy feet and to know that I have loved thee.
10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the entire world, to try those that dwell upon the earth.
11 Behold, I come quickly; hold fast that which thou hast, that no one take thy crown.
12 He that overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out no more, and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God which is the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from and with my God, and I will write upon him my new name.
13 He that has an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations. {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}
15 ¶ Jesus therefore knowing that they would come and take him by force to make him king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.
16 And when evening was come, his disciples went down unto the sea
17 and entered into a ship and were crossing the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them.
18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
19 So when they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty furlongs, they saw Jesus walking upon the sea and drawing nigh unto the ship, and they were afraid.
20 But he said unto them, I AM; be not afraid.
21 Then they willingly received him into the ship, and immediately the ship was at the land where they went.
22 ¶ The day following when the multitude which was on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there except the one in which his disciples had entered and that Jesus had not gone with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples had gone away alone
23 (but other boats came from Tiberias near unto the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks);
24 when the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they also entered into the boats and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.
25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when didst thou come here?
26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye have seen the signs, but because ye ate of the loaves and were filled.
27 Labour not for the food which perishes, but for the food which abides unto eternal life, which the Son of man shall give unto you, for him has God the Father sealed.
