Creation’s Praise of the Lord
1 Hallelujah!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
praise Him in the heights.(A)
2 Praise Him, all His angels;
praise Him, all His hosts.(B)
3 Praise Him, sun and moon;
praise Him, all you shining stars.(C)
4 Praise Him, highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens.(D)
5 Let them praise the name of Yahweh,
for He commanded, and they were created.(E)
6 He set them in position forever and ever;
He gave an order that will never pass away.(F)
7 Praise the Lord from the earth,
all sea monsters and ocean depths,(G)
8 lightning[a] and hail, snow and cloud,
powerful wind that executes His command,(H)
9 mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars,(I)
10 wild animals and all cattle,
creatures that crawl and flying birds,(J)
11 kings of the earth and all peoples,
princes and all judges of the earth,(K)
12 young men as well as young women,
old and young together.(L)
13 Let them praise the name of Yahweh,
for His name alone is exalted.
His majesty covers heaven and earth.(M)
14 He has raised up a horn for His people,
resulting in praise to all His godly ones,
to the Israelites, the people close to Him.(N)

Psalm 149
Praise for God’s Triumph
1 Hallelujah!
Sing to the Lord a new song,(O)
His praise in the assembly of the godly.(P)
2 Let Israel celebrate its Maker;
let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.(Q)
3 Let them praise His name with dancing
and make music to Him with tambourine and lyre.(R)
4 For Yahweh takes pleasure in His people;(S)
He adorns the humble with salvation.(T)
5 Let the godly celebrate in triumphal glory;
let them shout for joy on their beds.(U)
6 Let the exaltation of God be in their mouths[b]
and a double-edged sword in their hands,(V)
7 inflicting vengeance on the nations
and punishment on the peoples,(W)
8 binding their kings with chains
and their dignitaries with iron shackles,(X)
9 carrying out the judgment decreed against them.
This honor is for all His godly people.(Y)

Praise the Lord

Praise God in His sanctuary.

Psalm 114
God’s Deliverance of Israel
1 When Israel came out of Egypt—
the house of Jacob from a people
who spoke a foreign language(A)—
2 Judah became His sanctuary,
Israel, His dominion.(B)
3 The sea looked and fled;(C)
the Jordan turned back.(D)
4 The mountains skipped like rams,
the hills, like lambs.(E)
5 Why was it, sea, that you fled?
Jordan, that you turned back?(F)
6 Mountains, that you skipped like rams?
Hills, like lambs?(G)
7 Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,(H)
8 who turned the rock into a pool of water,

Psalm 115
Glory to God Alone
1 Not to us, Yahweh, not to us,
but to Your name give glory
because of Your faithful love, because of Your truth.(J)
2 Why should the nations say,
“Where is their God?”(K)
3 Our God is in heaven
and does whatever He pleases.(L)
4 Their idols are silver and gold,
made by human hands.(M)
5 They have mouths but cannot speak,
eyes, but cannot see.
6 They have ears but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell.(N)

Jethro’s Visit
18 Moses’ father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian,(A) heard about everything that God had done for Moses and His people Israel, and how the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt.
2 Now Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, had taken in Zipporah,(B) Moses’ wife, after he had sent her back, 3 along with her two sons, one of whom was named Gershom (because Moses had said, “I have been a foreigner in a foreign land”)[a](C) 4 and the other Eliezer (because he had said, “The God of my father was my helper and delivered me from Pharaoh’s sword”).[b]
5 Moses’ father-in-law Jethro, along with Moses’ wife and sons, came to him in the wilderness where he was camped at the mountain of God.(D) 6 He sent word to Moses, “I, your father-in-law Jethro, am coming to you with your wife and her two sons.”
7 So Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, bowed down,(E) and then kissed him. They asked each other how they had been[c] and went into the tent. 8 Moses recounted to his father-in-law all that the Lord had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, all the hardships that confronted them on the way, and how the Lord delivered them.(F)
9 Jethro rejoiced over all the good things the Lord had done for Israel when He rescued them from the power of the Egyptians. 10 “Praise the Lord,”(G) Jethro exclaimed, “who rescued you from Pharaoh and the power of the Egyptians and snatched the people from the power of the Egyptians. 11 Now I know that Yahweh is greater than all gods, because He did wonders when the Egyptians acted arrogantly against Israel.”[d](H)
12 Then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, brought a burnt offering and sacrifices to God, and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat a meal with Moses’ father-in-law in God’s presence.
7 Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command(A) but an old command that you have had from the beginning. The old command is the message(B) you have heard. 8 Yet I am writing you a new command, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away(C) and the true light(D) is already shining.(E)
9 The one who says he is in the light but hates his brother(F) is in the darkness until now. 10 The one who loves his brother(G) remains in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.[a] 11 But the one who hates his brother(H) is in the darkness, walks in the darkness,(I) and doesn’t know where he’s going,(J) because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
Reasons for Writing
12 I am writing to you, little children,
because your sins have been forgiven
because of Jesus’ name.(K)
13 I am writing to you, fathers,
because you have come to know
the One who is from the beginning.(L)
I am writing to you, young men,
because you have had victory over the evil one.(M)
14 I have written to you, children,
because you have come to know the Father.
I have written to you, fathers,
because you have come to know
the One who is from the beginning.
I have written to you, young men,
because you are strong,
God’s word(N) remains in you,
and you have had victory over the evil one.
A Warning about the World
15 Do not love the world(O) or the things that belong to[b] the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. 16 For everything that belongs to[c] the world—the lust of the flesh,(P) the lust of the eyes,(Q) and the pride(R) in one’s lifestyle—is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 And the world with its lust is passing away,(S) but the one who does God’s will(T) remains forever.(U)
Appearances of the Risen Lord
[9 Early(A) on the first day of the week,(B) after He had risen,(C) He appeared first to Mary Magdalene,(D) out of whom He had driven seven demons.(E) 10 She went and reported to those who had been with Him, as they were mourning and weeping. 11 Yet, when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe it.(F) 12 Then after this, He appeared(G) in a different form to two of them walking on their way into the country.(H) 13 And they went and reported it to the rest, who did not believe them either.
The Great Commission
14 Later, He appeared to the Eleven(I) themselves as they were reclining at the table. He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who saw Him after He had been resurrected.(J) 15 Then(K) He said to them, “Go into all the world(L) and preach the gospel to the whole creation.(M) 16 Whoever believes(N) and is baptized will be saved,(O) but whoever does not believe will be condemned.(P) 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; 18 they will pick up snakes;[a](Q) if they should drink anything deadly, it will never harm(R) them; they will lay hands on(S) the sick, and they will get well.”
The Ascension
19 Then after speaking to them, the Lord Jesus(T) was taken up into heaven(U) and sat down at the right hand(V) of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the accompanying signs.][b]
