118 Praise the LORD because He is good; for His mercy endures forever!
2 Let Israel now say, “His mercy endures forever!”
3 Let the House of Aaron now say, “His mercy endures forever!”
4 Let those who fear the LORD now say, “His mercy endures forever!”
5 I called upon the LORD in trouble; the LORD heard me and set me in a large place.
6 The LORD is with me. Therefore, I will not fear what man can do to me.
7 The LORD is with me among those who help me. Therefore, I shall see my desire upon my enemies.
8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to have confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to have confidence in princes.
10 All nations have surrounded me; but in the Name of the LORD shall I destroy them.
11 They have surrounded me. Indeed, they have surrounded me; but in the Name of the LORD I shall destroy them.
12 They came around me like bees, but they were quenched as a fire of thorns; for in the Name of the LORD I shall destroy them.
13 You have thrust violently at me, so that I might fall; but the LORD has helped me.
14 The LORD is my strength and song; for He has been my deliverance.
15 The voice of joy and deliverance is in the tabernacles of the righteous. The right hand of the LORD has done valiantly.
16 The right hand of the LORD is exalted. The right hand of the LORD has done valiantly.
17 I shall not die, but live and declare the works of the LORD.
18 The LORD has chastened me severely; but He has not delivered me to death.
19 Open the gates of righteousness to me, so that I may go into them and praise the LORD.
20 This is the gate of the LORD. The righteous shall enter into it.
21 I will praise You; for You have heard me and have been my deliverance.
22 The Stone which the builders refused is the Head of the Corner.
23 This was the LORD’s doing. It is marvelous in our eyes,
24 This is the day the LORD has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
25 O LORD, I beg You, save now! O LORD, I beg You, give prosperity now!
26 Blessed is he who comes in the Name of the LORD! We have blessed you out of the House of the LORD.
27 The LORD is mighty and has given us light. Bind the sacrifice to the horns of the altar with cords.
28 You are my God, and I will praise You! You are my God; therefore, I will exalt You!
29 Praise the LORD because He is good; for His mercy endures forever.
145 O my God and King, I will extol You, and will bless Your Name forever and ever.
2 I will bless You daily and praise Your Name forever and ever.
3 Great is the LORD, and most worthy to be praised. His greatness is incomprehensible.
4 Generation to generation shall praise Your works and declare Your power.
5 I will meditate on the beauty of Your glorious majesty and Your wonderful works.
6 And they shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness.
7 They shall break out into the mention of Your great goodness and shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.
8 The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger, and of great mercy.
9 The LORD is good to all, and His mercies are over all His works.
10 All Your works praise You, O LORD, and Your Saints bless You.
11 They show the glory of Your Kingdom, and speak of Your power,
12 to cause His power and the glorious renown of His Kingdom to be known to the sons of men.
13 Your Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all ages.
14 The LORD upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are ready to fall.
15 The eyes of all wait upon You, and You give them their food in due season.
16 You open Your hand and fulfill the desire of all living things.
17 The LORD is righteous in all His ways, and Holy in all His works.
18 The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.
19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and will save them.
20 The LORD preserves all those who love Him; but He will destroy the wicked.
21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD; and all flesh shall bless His Holy Name forever and ever. Praise the LORD.
17 Moreover, Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Let me now choose twelve thousand men. And I will get up and follow after David this night.
2 “And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak-handed. So, I will make them afraid. And all the people who are with him shall flee, and I will strike only the king.
3 “And I will bring back all the people to you. When all shall return, all the people shall be in peace, seeing the man whom you seek has been killed.”
4 And the saying pleased Absalom, as well as all the elders of Israel.
5 Then Absalom said, “Now call Hushai the Archite also and let us hear what he says as well!”
6 So, when Hushai came to Absalom, Absalom spoke to him, saying, “Ahithophel has spoken this. Shall we do as he says, or not? Tell me.”
7 Hushai then answered Absalom, “The counsel that Ahithophel has given is not good at this time.
8 “For,” said Hushai, “you know your father and his men, that they are strong men and bitter, as a bear robbed of her cubs in the field. Also, your father is a valiant warrior and will not lodge with the people.
9 “Behold, he is hidden now in some cave, or in some place. And when some of them are overthrown at first, the people shall hear and say, ‘The people who follow Absalom have been slaughtered!’
10 “Then he, also, who is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall shrink and faint. For all Israel knows that your father is valiant, and those with him are stout men.
11 “Therefore, my counsel is that all Israel be gathered to you, from Dan to Beersheba, as the sand of the sea in number, and that you go to battle in person.
12 “So shall we come upon him in some place, wherever we shall find him. And we will fall upon him as the dew falls on the ground. And of all the men who are with him we will not leave one.
13 “Moreover, if he has gotten into a city, then shall all the men of Israel bring ropes to that city. And we will draw it into the river, until there is not one small stone found there.”
14 Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” (For the LORD had determined to destroy the good counsel of Ahithophel, so that the LORD might bring misery upon Absalom).
15 Then Hushai said to Zadok and to Abiathar, the priests, “Of this and that manner did Ahithophel and the elders of Israel counsel Absalom. And thus and so have I counseled.
16 “Now, therefore, send quickly, and tell David, saying, “Do not stay in the fields of the wilderness this night. But cross over, lest the king and all the people who are with him are devoured.”
17 Now, Jonathan and Ahimaaz stayed by En Rogel, for they could not be seen coming into the city. And a maid went and told them, and they went and told King David.
18 Nevertheless, a young man saw them, and told it to Absalom. Therefore, they both departed quickly and came to a man’s house in Bahurim who had a well in his court, into which they went down.
19 And the wife took and spread a covering over the well’s mouth, and spread ground corn on it, so that the thing would not be known.
20 And when Absalom’s servants came to the wife, into the house, they said, “Where is Ahimaaz and Jonathan?” And the woman answered them, “They have gone over the brook of water.” And when they had sought them, and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.
21 And as soon as they had departed, the others came out of the well, and went and told King David, and said to him, “Up! And quickly get yourself over the water! For such counsel has Ahithophel given against you!”
22 Then David arose, and all the people who were with him, and they went over Jordan until the dawning of the day, so that there was not one of them who had not come over Jordan.
23 Now when Ahithophel saw that his counsel had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and arose. And he went home to his city and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in his father’s grave.
6 Rather, as Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness,
7 know you therefore that those who are of faith, are the same children of Abraham.
8 For the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles through faith, preached the Gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you shall all the Gentiles be blessed.”
9 So then those who are of faith, are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10 For as many as are of the works of the Law, are under the curse. For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the Law, to do them.”
11 And it is evident that no one is justified by the Law, in the sight of God. For the just shall live by faith.
12 And the Law is not of faith: but the one who shall do those things, shall live in them.
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Law, being made a curse for us, (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”).
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus. That we might receive the promise of the Spirit, through faith.
30 “I can do nothing of My own Self. As I hear, I judge. And My judgment is just, because I seek not My own will, but the will of the Father Who has sent Me.
31 “If I should bear witness of Myself, My witness is not true.
32 “There is Another that bears witness of Me. And I know that the witness which He bears of Me is true.
33 “You sent to John, and he bore witness to the truth.
34 “But I do not receive the testimony of man. Nevertheless, these things I say that you might be saved.
35 “He was a burning and shining lamp. And you were, for a season, willing to rejoice in his light.
36 “But I have greater witness than the witness of John. For the works which the Father has given Me to finish (the same works that I do) bear witness of Me, that the Father sent Me.
37 “And the Father Himself, Who has sent Me, bears witness of Me. You have not heard His voice at any time, nor have you seen His shape.
38 “And His Word you do not have abiding in you. For Whom He has sent, Him you did not believe.
39 “You search the Scriptures. For in them you think to have eternal life. And they are they which testify of Me.
40 “But you will not come to Me, that you might have life.
41 “I do not receive the praise of man.
42 “But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.
43 “I have come in My Father’s Name, and you do not receive Me. If another shall come in his own name, him you will receive!
44 How can you believe, when you receive honor one from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from God alone?
45 “Do not think that I will accuse you to My Father. There is one who accuses you - Moses, in whom you trust.
46 “For had you believed Moses you would have believed Me. For he wrote of Me.
47 “But if you do not believe his writings, how shall you believe My words?”
