30 I will magnify You, O LORD. You have exalted me and have not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2 O LORD, my God, I cried to You; and You have restored me.
3 O LORD, You have brought up my soul out of the grave. You have revived me from those who go down into the pit.
4 Sing praises to the LORD, His Saints, and give thanks before the remembrance of His Holiness.
5 For His anger endures but a while. In His favor is life. Weeping may abide at evening, but joy comes in the morning.
6 And in my prosperity, I said, “I shall never be moved.”
7 For You, LORD, from Your goodness, had made my mountain to stand strong. You hid Your face, and I was troubled.
8 Then I cried to You, O LORD, and prayed to my LORD.
9 What profit is there in my blood when I go down to the pit! Shall the dust give thanks to You? Or shall it declare Your Truth?
10 Hear, O LORD; and have mercy upon me. LORD, be my Helper.
11 You have turned my mourning into joy. You have loosened my sackcloth and girded me with gladness.
12 Therefore, my tongue shall praise You, and not cease. O LORD, my God, I will give thanks to You forever. To him who excels: A Psalm of David.
32 Blessed is he whose wickedness is forgiven; whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3 When I held my tongue (my bones being consumed when I roared all day,
4 for Your hand is heavy upon me day and night) and my moisture turned into the drought of Summer (Selah),
5 I acknowledged my sin to You and did not hide my iniquity. I thought, “I will confess to the LORD my wickedness against myself.” And You forgave the punishment of my sin. Selah.
6 Therefore, everyone who is godly shall make his prayer to You in a time when You may be found. Surely, in the flood of great waters they shall not come near him.
7 You are my Secret Place. You preserve me from trouble. You surround me with joyful deliverance. Selah.
8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way that you shall go. I will guide you with My eye.
9 “Be not like a horse, or like a mule, which do not understand; whose mouths you bind with bit and bridle, lest they come near you.”
10 Many sorrows shall come to the wicked. But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him.
11 Be glad, you righteous, and rejoice in the LORD; and be joyful, all you who are upright in heart!
42 As the deer brays for the rivers of water, so panted my soul after You, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, even for the living God. When shall I come and appear before the presence of God?
3 My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me daily, “Where is your God?”
4 When I remembered these things, I poured out my very heart; because I had gone with the multitude and led them into the House of God with the voice of singing and praise, as a multitude that keeps a feast.
5 Why are you cast down, my soul, and unquiet within me? Wait on God; for I will still give Him thanks for the help of His presence.
6 My God, my soul is cast down within me because I remembered You from the land of Jordan, and Hermon, and from the Mount Mizar.
7 One deep calls another deep by the noise of Your waterspouts. All Your waves and Your floods have gone over me.
8 The LORD will grant His lovingkindness in the day; and in the night shall I sing of Him a prayer to the God of my life.
9 I will say to God, my Rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning when the enemy oppresses?”
10 As a sword shattering my bones, my enemies reproach me, saying daily to me, “Where is your God?”
11 Why are you cast down, my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Wait on God. For I will yet give thanks to Him, to the Face of my Deliverer and my God.
43 Judge me, O God, and defend my cause against the unmerciful people. Deliver me from the deceitful and wicked man.
2 For You are the God of my strength. Why have You put me away? Why do I go so mourning when the enemy oppressed me?
3 Send Your light and Your truth. Let them lead me. Let them bring me to Your Holy Mountain, and to Your Tabernacles.
4 Then I will go to the altar of God, even to the God of my joy and gladness. And upon the harp will I give thanks to You, O God, my God.
5 Why are You cast down, my soul? And why are You disquieted within me? Wait on God; for I will still give Him thanks, my present help and my God. To him who excels: A Psalm to give instruction, committed to the sons of Korah.
22 Therefore, David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. And when his brethren and all his father’s House heard it, they went down there to him.
2 And there, all men who were troubled gathered to him, and all men who were in debt, and all those whose souls were embittered. And he was their prince. And there were about four hundred men with him.
3 And David went there to Mizpah in Moab, and said to the king of Moab, “Please, let my father and my mother come and stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”
4 And he brought them before the king of Moab, and they dwelt with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.
5 And the Prophet Gad said to David, “Do not stay in the stronghold. Depart and go into the land of Judah.” Then David departed and came into the forest of Hereth.
6 And Saul heard that David and the men who were with him had been discovered. And Saul remained in Gibeah, under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand. And all his servants stood around him.
7 And Saul said to his servants who stood around him, “Hear now, sons of Benjamin! Will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards? Will he make you all captains over thousands and captains over hundreds,
8 “so that all of you have conspired against me? And there is not one who tells me that my son has made a covenant with the son of Jesse? And there is not one of you who is sorry for me or tells me that my son has stirred up my servant to lie in wait against me, as it is this day?”
9 Then Doeg the Edomite (who was appointed over the servants of Saul) answered and said, “I saw the son of Jesse when he came to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub,
10 “who asked counsel of the LORD for him and gave him provisions. And he also gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”
11 Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the Priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s House (the priests who were in Nob). And they all came to the king.
12 And Saul said, “Hear now, you son of Ahitub.” And he answered, “I am here, my lord.”
13 Then Saul said to him, “Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him provision, and a sword, and have asked counsel of God for him, so that he could rise against me and lie in wait, as it is this day?”
14 And Ahimelech answered the king, and said, “Who is so faithful among all your servants as David (being also the king’s son-in-law) and goes at your commandment and is honorable in your House?
15 “Have I this day first begun to ask counsel of God for him? Far be it from me. Do not let the king impute anything to his servant or to all the House of my father. For your servant knew nothing of all this, neither less nor more.”
16 Then the king said, “You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father’s House!”
17 And the king said to the sergeants who stood around him, “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because their hand is also with David and because they knew when he fled and did not tell me!” But the servants of the king would not move their hands to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
18 Then the king said to Doeg, “Turn yourselves and fall upon the priests!” And Doeg the Edomite turned and ran upon the priests and that same day killed eighty-five people who wore a linen ephod.
19 He also struck Nob, the city of the priests, with the edge of the sword, both man and woman, child and suckling, ox and donkey and sheep with the edge of the sword.
20 But one of the sons of Ahimelech, the son of Ahitub (whose name was Abiathar) escaped and fled after David.
21 And Abiathar told David that Saul had killed the LORD’s priests.
22 And David said to Abiathar, “I knew it the same day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would tell Saul. I am the cause of the death of all the people of your father’s House.
23 “Stay with me. Do not fear. For he who seeks my life shall also seek your life. For you shall be safe with me.”
26 “Men, brothers, children of the generation of Abraham, and whoever among you fears God, to you is the Word of this salvation sent.
27 “For the inhabitants of Jerusalem and their rulers - because they did not know Him, or even the words of the Prophets which are read every Sabbath - have fulfilled them in condemning Him.
28 “And even though they found no cause for death, they still asked Pilate to kill Him.
29 “And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of Him, they took Him down from the tree, and put Him in a sepulcher.
30 “But God raised Him up from the dead.
31 “And He was seen by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem (who are his witnesses to the people) for many days.
32 “And we declare to you concerning the promise made to the fathers:
33 “that God has fulfilled it to us, their children, in that He raised up Jesus; even as it is written in the second Psalm, ‘You are My Son. This day have I begotten You.’
34 “And considering that He raised Him up from the dead, to return no more to decay, He has said this, ‘I will give you the holy things of David, which are faithful.’
35 “Therefore He also says in another place, ‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see decay.’
36 “For David - after he had served his time, by the counsel of God - slept, and was laid with his fathers, and saw decay.
37 “But He Whom God raised up, saw no decay.
38 “Therefore, be it known to you, brothers, that the forgiveness of sins is preached to you through this Man.
39 “And by Him, everyone who believes is justified from all things which the Law of Moses could not justify.
40 “Therefore beware, so that that which is spoken of in the Prophets does not come upon you:
41 ‘Behold, you despisers, and wonder, and vanish away. For I work a work in your days; a work which you shall not believe, if one should declare it you.’”
42 And when they had come out of the synagogue of the Jews, the Gentiles begged them to preach these words to them the next Sabbath.
43 Now, after the congregation had dispersed, many of the Jews (and proselytes who feared God) followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and encouraged them to continue in the grace of God.
19 and Judas Iscariot (who also betrayed Him). And they came home.
20 And the multitude assembled again, so that they could not even eat bread.
21 And when His family heard of it, they went out to get Him. For they said that He was beside Himself.
22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem, said, “He has Beelzebub. And through the prince of the demons He casts out demons.”
23 But He called them to Him, and said to them in parables, “How can Satan drive out Satan?
24 “For if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
25 “Or if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot continue.
26 “So if Satan opposes himself, and is divided, he cannot endure, but is at an end.
27 “No one can enter into a strong man’s house, and take away his goods, except that he first bind that strong man, and then rob his house.
28 “Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the children of man, and blasphemies with which they blaspheme.
29 “But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Ghost, shall never have forgiveness; but is culpable of eternal damnation.”
30 He said this because they said, ‘He has an unclean spirit.’
31 Then His brothers and mother came and stood outside and sent word to Him and called Him.
32 And the people who sat around Him said to Him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers seek you outside.”
33 But He answered them, saying, “Who is my mother and my brothers?”
34 And He looked at those who sat around Him, and said, “Behold My mother and My brothers.
35 “For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother, My sister, and My mother.”
