33 He turns the floods to a wilderness, the springs of waters into dryness,
34 a fruitful land into barrenness, because of the wickedness of those who dwell therein.
35 He turns the wilderness into pools of water, and the dry land into water springs.
36 And there He places the hungry; and they build a city in which to dwell,
37 and sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which bring forth fruitful increase.
38 For He blesses them, and they multiply exceedingly; and He does not diminish their cattle.
39 Again, they are diminished and brought low by oppression, evil and sorrow.
40 He pours contempt upon princes and causes them to err in desert places, out of the way.
41 Yet he raises up the poor out of misery and makes families, like a flock of sheep.
42 The righteous shall see it and rejoice; and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
43 Who is wise? Let him observe these things and understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.
108 O God, my heart is prepared. I will sing and give abundant praise!
2 Awake, viol and harp! I will awake early.
3 I will praise You, O LORD, among the people! And I will sing to You among the nations.
4 For Your mercy is great above the heavens, and Your truth to the clouds.
5 Exalt Yourself, O God, above the heavens, and Your Glory upon all the Earth,
6 so that Your beloved may be delivered. Help with Your right hand and hear me.
7 God has spoken in His holiness, “I will rejoice. I shall divide Shechem and measure the valley of Succoth.
8 “Gilead shall be Mine. Manasseh shall be Mine. Ephraim, also, shall be the strength of My head. Judah is My lawgiver.
9 “Moab shall be My washpot. I will cast out My shoe over Edom. I will triumph over Palestine.”
10 Who will lead me into the strong city? Who will bring me to Edom?
11 Will not You, O God, Who had forsaken us? And will You not go forth, O God, with our armies?
12 Give us help against trouble, for vain is the help of man.
13 Through God we shall do valiantly; for He shall tread down our enemies. To him who excels: A Psalm of David
33 Rejoice in the LORD, O righteous! It becomes upright men to be thankful.
2 Praise the LORD with harp! Sing to Him with viol and instrument of ten strings!
3 Sing to Him a new song! Sing cheerfully with a loud voice!
4 For the Word of the LORD is righteous; and all His works are faithful.
5 He loves righteousness and judgment. The Earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.
6 By the Word of the LORD were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
7 He gathers the waters of the sea together, as upon a heap, and lays up the depths in His treasures.
8 Let all the Earth fear the LORD. Let all those who dwell in the world, fear Him.
9 For He spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood.
10 The LORD breaks the counsel of the heathen and brings the devices of the people to nothing.
11 The counsel of the LORD shall stand forever, and the thoughts of His heart throughout all ages.
12 Blessed is that nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen for His inheritance.
13 The LORD looks down from Heaven, beholding all the children of men.
14 From the habitation of His dwelling he beholds all those who dwell on the Earth.
15 He fashions their hearts, every one, understanding all their works.
16 The king is not saved by the multitude of an army; nor is the mighty man delivered by great strength.
17 A horse is a vain help and shall not deliver by his great strength.
18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon those who fear Him, upon those who trust in His mercy
19 to deliver their souls from death and to preserve them in famine.
20 Our soul waits for the LORD. He is our Help and our Shield.
21 Surely, our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we trusted in His Holy Name.
22 Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us. As we trusted in You. A Psalm of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech; who drove him away and he departed.
15 But the LORD had revealed to Samuel secretly (a day before Saul came) saying,
16 “Tomorrow, about this time, I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin. You shall anoint him to be Governor over My people, Israel, so that he may save My people out of the hands of the Philistines. For I have looked upon My people and their cry has come to Me.”
17 Therefore, when Samuel saw Saul, the LORD answered him, “See, this is the man of whom I spoke to you. He shall rule My people.”
18 Then Saul went to Samuel in the midst of the gate, and said, “Tell me, please, where the Seer’s house is.”
19 And Samuel answered Saul, and said, “I am the Seer. Go up before me to the high place; for you shall eat with me today and tomorrow I will let you go and will tell you all that is in your heart.
20 “And as for your donkeys that were lost three days ago, do not worry about them, for they have been found. And on whom is set all the desire of Israel? Is it not upon you, and on all your father’s House?”
21 But Saul answered, and said, “Am I not the son of Benjamin, of the smallest tribe of Israel, and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why, then, do you speak so to me?”
22 And Samuel took Saul and his servant and brought them into the chamber, and made them sit in the chief place among those who were invited (which was about thirty people).
23 And Samuel said to the cook, “Bring forth the portion which I gave you, of which I said to you, “Keep it with you.”
24 And the cook took up the shoulder, and that which was upon it, and set it before Saul. And Samuel said, “Behold that which remains, set apart for you! Eat! For up to now it has been kept for you, since I said, “I have called the people!” So, Saul ate with Samuel that day.
25 And when they had come down from the high place into the city, he spoke with Saul upon the top of the house.
26 And when they arose early, about the dawn of the day, Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, “Up, so that I may send you away!” And Saul arose. And they went out, both he and Samuel.
27 And when they had come down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, “Bid the servant go before us,” (and he went) “But you stand still now, so that I may show you the Word of God.”
10 Then Samuel took a vial of oil and poured it upon his head and kissed him and said, “Has not the LORD anointed you to be Governor over His inheritance?
30 “And after forty years had passed, an Angel of the Lord in a flame of fire appeared to him in a bush, in the wilderness of mount Sinai.
31 “And when Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight. And as he drew near to examine it, the voice of the Lord came to him, saying,
32 ‘I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ Then Moses trembled, and dared not look at it.
33 “Then the Lord said to him, ‘Take off your shoes from your feet. For the place where you stand is Holy Ground.
34 ‘Seeing, I have seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt. And I have heard their groaning and have come down to deliver them. And now, come, and I will send you into Egypt.
35 “This Moses whom they forsook, saying, ‘Who made you a prince and a judge?’ The same man God sent as a prince and a deliverer, by the hand of the Angel which appeared to him in the bush.
36 “He brought them out, doing wonders and miracles in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness, forty years.
37 “This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, ‘The Lord your God shall raise up to you a Prophet like me from your brothers. Him you shall hear.
38 “This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness, with the Angel which spoke to him on mount Sinai, and with our fathers who received the living oracles to give to us;
39 “whom our fathers would not obey, but refused, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
40 ‘saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods that may go before us. For we do not know what has become of this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt.’
41 “And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
42 “Then God turned Himself away, and gave them up to serve the host of heaven, as it is written in the Book of the Prophets, ‘O House of Israel, have you offered to Me slain beasts and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness?
43 “‘And you took up the Tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan - figures which you made to worship them. Therefore, I will carry you away beyond Babylon.’
39 And He came out and went to the mount of Olives (as was His custom). And His disciples also followed Him.
40 And when He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray, lest you enter into trial.”
41 And He was drawn aside from them (about a stone’s cast) and kneeled down and prayed,
42 saying, “Father. If You will, take away this cup from Me. Nevertheless, not My will. But Yours be done.”
43 And an angel from Heaven appeared to Him, to comfort Him.
44 But being in an agony, He prayed more earnestly. And His sweat was like drops of blood, trickling down to the ground.
45 And He rose up from prayer, and came to His disciples, and found them asleep from sorrow.
46 And He said to them, “Why do you sleep?! Rise and pray, lest you enter into trial.”
47 And while He was still speaking, a crowd appeared. And he who was called Judas (one of the twelve) went before them and came near to Jesus to kiss Him.
48 And Jesus said to him, “Judas, you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”
49 Now, when those who were around Him saw what would follow, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”
50 And one of them struck a servant of the High Priest; and struck off his right ear.
51 Then Jesus answered, and said, “Enough!” And He touched his ear and healed him.
