  182. Then the woman whose son was alive said to the king, because her heart yearned for her son, “Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and by no means put him to death.” But the other said, “He shall be neither mine nor yours; divide him.”
  183. Then the king answered and said, “Give the living child to the first woman, and by no means put him to death; she is his mother.”

  193. So the woman arose and did according to the word of the man of God. She went with her household and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

  196. And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed an official for her, saying, “Restore all that was hers, together with all the produce of the fields from the day that she left the land until now.”

  199. but that whoever would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.

  203. And the young woman pleased him and won his favor. And he quickly provided her with her cosmetics and her portion of food, and with seven chosen young women from the king's palace, and advanced her and her young women to the best place in the harem.
  204. Now when the turn came for each young woman to go in to King Ahasuerus, after being twelve months under the regulations for the women, since this was the regular period of their beautifying, six months with oil of myrrh and six months with spices and ointments for women—
  205. when the young woman went in to the king in this way, she was given whatever she desired to take with her from the harem to the king's palace.

But as for me, I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days.”
  207. Job Continues: Death Comes Soon to All

“Man who is born of a woman is few of days and full of trouble.
  208. What is man, that he can be pure? Or he who is born of a woman, that he can be righteous?
  209. “They wrong the barren, childless woman, and do no good to the widow.
  210. How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure?
  211. “If my heart has been enticed toward a woman, and I have lain in wait at my neighbor's door,
  212. Trembling took hold of them there, anguish as of a woman in labor.
  213. He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!
  214. So you will be delivered from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words,
  215. For the lips of a forbidden woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil,
  216. Why should you be intoxicated, my son, with a forbidden woman and embrace the bosom of an adulteress?
  217. to preserve you from the evil woman, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress.
  218. for the price of a prostitute is only a loaf of bread, but a married woman hunts down a precious life.

  230. As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.
  231. They will be dismayed: pangs and agony will seize them; they will be in anguish like a woman in labor. They will look aghast at one another; their faces will be aflame.
  232. Therefore my loins are filled with anguish; pangs have seized me, like the pangs of a woman in labor; I am bowed down so that I cannot hear; I am dismayed so that I cannot see.
  233. Like a pregnant woman who writhes and cries out in her pangs when she is near to giving birth, so were we because of you, O Lord;
  234. For a long time I have held my peace; I have kept still and restrained myself; now I will cry out like a woman in labor; I will gasp and pant.
  235. Woe to him who says to a father, ‘What are you begetting?’ or to a woman, ‘With what are you in labor?’”
  236. “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.
  237. But you, draw near, sons of the sorceress, offspring of the adulterer and the loose woman.
  238. For as a young man marries a young woman, so shall your sons marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.
  239. For I heard a cry as of a woman in labor, anguish as of one giving birth to her first child, the cry of the daughter of Zion gasping for breath, stretching out her hands, “Woe is me! I am fainting before murderers.”
  240. We have heard the report of it; our hands fall helpless; anguish has taken hold of us, pain as of a woman in labor.
  241. What will you say when they set as head over you those whom you yourself have taught to be friends to you? Will not pangs take hold of you like those of a woman in labor?
  242. O inhabitant of Lebanon, nested among the cedars, how you will be pitied when pangs come upon you, pain as of a woman in labor!”
  243. Ask now, and see, can a man bear a child? Why then do I see every man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor? Why has every face turned pale?

  252. if he does not eat upon the mountains or lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, does not defile his neighbor's wife or approach a woman in her time of menstrual impurity,
  253. “Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their own land, they defiled it by their ways and their deeds. Their ways before me were like the uncleanness of a woman in her menstrual impurity.
  254. They shall not marry a widow or a divorced woman, but only virgins of the offspring of the house of Israel, or a widow who is the widow of a priest.
  255. Hosea Redeems His Wife

And the Lord said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulteress, even as the Lord loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love cakes of raisins.”
  256. Now why do you cry aloud? Is there no king in you? Has your counselor perished, that pain seized you like a woman in labor?
  257. Writhe and groan, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in labor, for now you shall go out from the city and dwell in the open country; you shall go to Babylon. There you shall be rescued; there the Lord will redeem you from the hand of your enemies.
  258. A Vision of a Woman in a Basket

Then the angel who talked with me came forward and said to me, “Lift your eyes and see what this is that is going out.”
  259. And behold, the leaden cover was lifted, and there was a woman sitting in the basket!
  260. But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
  261. But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
  262. A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed

While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.”
  263. And behold, a woman who had suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment,
  264. Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well.

  266. The Faith of a Canaanite Woman

And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon.
  267. And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.”

  280. A Sinful Woman Forgiven

One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house and reclined at table.
  281. And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment,
  282. Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”
  283. Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.
  284. And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.
  291. And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself.
  292. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability.”
  293. And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?”

Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
  302. A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.”
  303. The Samaritan woman said to him, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
  304. The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water?
  305. The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”
  306. The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’;
  307. The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
  308. Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
  309. The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.”
  310. Just then his disciples came back. They marveled that he was talking with a woman, but no one said, “What do you seek?” or, “Why are you talking with her?”

  312. They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.”
  313. [The earliest manuscripts do not include 7:53–8:11.]

    The Woman Caught in Adultery

[[They went each to his own house,
  314. The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst
  315. they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery.
  316. But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him.
  317. Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
  318. When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.
  319. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!”
  320. They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.”
  321. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.”
  322. Timothy Joins Paul and Silas

Paul came also to Derbe and to Lystra. A disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but his father was a Greek.
  323. One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul.
  324. But some men joined him and believed, among whom also were Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris and others with them.
  325. For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage.
  326. Principles for Marriage

Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.”
  327. But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.
  328. If any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce him.
  329. But if you do marry, you have not sinned, and if a betrothed woman marries, she has not sinned. Yet those who marry will have worldly troubles, and I would spare you that.
  330. and his interests are divided. And the unmarried or betrothed woman is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to be holy in body and spirit. But the married woman is anxious about worldly things, how to please her husband.
  331. For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.
  332. For man was not made from woman, but woman from man.
  333. Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.
  334. Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman;
  335. for as woman was made from man, so man is now born of woman. And all things are from God.
  336. but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering.
  337. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.
  338. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,
  339. For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave woman and one by a free woman.
  340. But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman was born through promise.
  341. But what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.”
  342. So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.
  343. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
  344. Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.
  345. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.
  346. and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.
  347. If any believing woman has relatives who are widows, let her care for them. Let the church not be burdened, so that it may care for those who are truly widows.
  348. Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
  349. But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.
  350. The Woman and the Dragon

And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
  351. His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it.
  352. and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days.
  353. And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.
  354. But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time.
  355. The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood.
  356. But the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth.
  357. Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea.
  358. And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns.
  359. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality.
  360. And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I marveled greatly.
  361. But the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her.
  362. This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated;
  363. And the woman that you saw is the great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth.”
