Then he took these animals to a place that was three days’ journey away from Jacob. Jacob ·took care of [pastured] all the flocks that were left.

Three days later ·Laban learned [^Lit was told/reported to Laban] that Jacob had ·run away [fled],

Three days later the men who were circumcised were still in pain. Two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi (Dinah’s brothers), took their swords and made a ·surprise [or bold] attack on the city, killing all the men there.

Then Joseph said, “·I will explain the dream to you [^LThis is its interpretation]. The three branches stand for three days.

Before the end of three days the king will ·free you [^Llift up your head], and he will allow you to return to your work. You will ·serve the king his wine just as you did before [give the cup into the hand of Pharaoh according to your former custom when you were his cupbearer].

Joseph answered, “·I will tell you what the dream means [^LThis is its interpretation]. The three baskets stand for three days.

Before the end of three days, the king will ·cut off your head [^Llift up your head; v. 13]! He will hang your body on a ·pole [^Ltree], and the birds will eat your flesh.”

Three days later, on his birthday, ·the king [^LPharaoh] gave a ·feast [banquet] for all his ·officers [^Lservants]. In front of his ·officers [^Lservants], he ·released from prison the chief officer who served his wine and the chief baker [^Lhe lifted the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker].

Then Joseph put them all in ·prison [the guardhouse] for three days.

“The elders will listen to you. And then you and the elders of Israel will go to the king of Egypt and tell him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, ·appeared to [^Lmet with] us. Let us travel three days into the ·desert [wilderness] to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God.’

Then Aaron and Moses said, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Now let us travel three days into the ·desert [wilderness] to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God. If we don’t do this, he may kill us with a ·disease [pestilence; plague] or in war.”

Moses ·raised [stretched; extended] his hand toward the ·sky [heavens], and ·total [dense; deep] darkness was everywhere in Egypt for three days.

No one could see ·anyone else [^Lhis brother], and no one could go anywhere for three days. But the ·Israelites [^Lsons/^Tchildren of Israel] had light where they lived.

Bitter Water Becomes Good

Moses led the Israelites away from the ·Red [or Reed; 10:19] Sea into the ·Desert [Wilderness] of Shur. They traveled for three days in the ·desert [wilderness] but found no water.

Then Moses said to the people, “Be ready in three days. Do not ·have sexual relations during this time [^Ltouch a woman; ^Can emission of semen rendered a man ritually unclean; Lev. 15:16–18].”

Then it will be thirty-three days before she becomes clean from her loss of blood. She must not touch anything that is holy or enter the ·Holy Tent [^Lsanctuary] until her time of ·cleansing [purification] is finished.

So they left the mountain of the Lord [^CMount Sinai] and traveled for three days. The Ark of the Lord’s ·Agreement [Treaty; Covenant; Ex. 25:10] went in front of the people for those three days, as they looked for a ·place to camp [resting place].

They left Pi Hahiroth and walked through the sea into the ·desert [wilderness; Ex. 14:1–31]. After going three days through the ·Desert [Wilderness] of Etham, they camped at Marah [Ex. 15:23].

“Go through the camp and ·tell [command] the people, ‘Get your ·supplies [provisions] ready. ·Three days from now [or Within a few days] you will cross the Jordan River and take the land the Lord your God is ·giving you [^Lgiving you to inherit/possess].’”

She said to them, “Go into the hills so the ·king’s men [^Lpursuers] will not find you. Hide there for three days. After the ·king’s men [^Lpursuers] return, you may go on your way.”

The men left and went into the hills where they stayed for three days. The ·king’s men [pursuers] looked for them all along the road, but after three days, they returned to the city without finding them.

After three days the ·officers [leaders] went through the camp

Three days after they had made the ·agreement [covenant; treaty], the Israelites learned that the Gibeonites ·lived nearby [^Lwere neighbors and lived in their midst].

Samson said, “Out of the eater comes something to eat. Out of the strong comes something sweet.” After three days, they had not ·found the answer [solved the riddle].

The father-in-law, the young woman’s father, ·asked [urged; persuaded] him to stay. So he stayed for three days and ate, drank, and slept there [^Chospitality was (and is) a very high cultural value in the Middle East].
