  1. Satan’s Accusation of Job

    Now the day came when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord—and Satan also arrived among them.
  2. The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” And Satan answered the Lord, “From roving about on the earth, and from walking back and forth across it.”
  3. So the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and turns away from evil.”
  4. Then Satan answered the Lord, “Is it for nothing that Job fears God?
  5. So the Lord said to Satan, “All right then, everything he has is in your power. Only do not extend your hand against the man himself!” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
  6. Satan’s Additional Charge

    Again the day came when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also arrived among them to present himself before the Lord.
  7. And the Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Satan answered the Lord, “From roving about on the earth, and from walking back and forth across it.”
  8. Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a pure and upright man, one who fears God and turns away from evil. And he still holds firmly to his integrity, so that you stirred me up to destroy him without reason.”
  9. But Satan answered the Lord, “Skin for skin! Indeed, a man will give up all that he has to save his life.
  10. So the Lord said to Satan, “All right, he is in your power; only preserve his life.”
  11. Job’s Integrity in Suffering

    So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord, and he afflicted Job with a malignant ulcer from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.
  12. Vision Four: The Priest

    Next I saw Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, with Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him.
  13. The Lord said to Satan, “May the Lord rebuke you, Satan! May the Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Isn’t this man like a burning stick snatched from the fire?”
  14. Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”
  15. So if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?
  16. But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, because you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but on man’s.”
  17. He was in the wilderness forty days, enduring temptations from Satan. He was with wild animals, and angels were ministering to his needs.
  18. So he called them and spoke to them in parables: “How can Satan cast out Satan?
  19. And if Satan rises against himself and is divided, he is not able to stand and his end has come.
  20. These are the ones on the path where the word is sown: Whenever they hear, immediately Satan comes and snatches the word that was sown in them.
  21. But after turning and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan. You are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but on man’s.”
  22. So he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
  23. So if Satan too is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? I ask you this because you claim that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.
  24. Then shouldn’t this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be released from this imprisonment on the Sabbath day?”
  25. Then Satan entered Judas, the one called Iscariot, who was one of the twelve.
