  191. if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.
  192. If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly;
  193. If you return, O Israel, declares the Lord, to me you should return. If you remove your detestable things from my presence, and do not waver,
  194. and if you swear, ‘As the Lord lives,’ in truth, in justice, and in righteousness, then nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.”
  195. Jerusalem Refused to Repent

Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, look and take note! Search her squares to see if you can find a man, one who does justice and seeks truth, that I may pardon her.
  196. “For if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you truly execute justice one with another,
  197. if you do not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own harm,
  198. The Lord Answers Jeremiah

If you have raced with men on foot, and they have wearied you, how will you compete with horses? And if in a safe land you are so trusting, what will you do in the thicket of the Jordan?
  199. But if you will not listen, my soul will weep in secret for your pride; my eyes will weep bitterly and run down with tears, because the Lord's flock has been taken captive.
  200. And if you say in your heart, ‘Why have these things come upon me?’ it is for the greatness of your iniquity that your skirts are lifted up and you suffer violence.
  201. Therefore thus says the Lord: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them.
  202. “‘But if you listen to me, declares the Lord, and bring in no burden by the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, but keep the Sabbath day holy and do no work on it,
  203. But if you do not listen to me, to keep the Sabbath day holy, and not to bear a burden and enter by the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem and shall not be quenched.’”
  204. For if you will indeed obey this word, then there shall enter the gates of this house kings who sit on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their servants and their people.
  205. But if you will not obey these words, I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that this house shall become a desolation.
  206. But if you say, ‘The burden of the Lord,’ thus says the Lord, ‘Because you have said these words, “The burden of the Lord,” when I sent to you, saying, “You shall not say, ‘The burden of the Lord,’”
  207. You shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord: If you will not listen to me, to walk in my law that I have set before you,
  208. Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city and its inhabitants, for in truth the Lord sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.”
  209. “Thus says the Lord: If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night will not come at their appointed time,
  210. For even if you should defeat the whole army of Chaldeans who are fighting against you, and there remained of them only wounded men, every man in his tent, they would rise up and burn this city with fire.’”
  211. Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “Thus says the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: If you will surrender to the officials of the king of Babylon, then your life shall be spared, and this city shall not be burned with fire, and you and your house shall live.
  212. But if you do not surrender to the officials of the king of Babylon, then this city shall be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire, and you shall not escape from their hand.”
  213. But if you refuse to surrender, this is the vision which the Lord has shown to me:
  214. If you remain, then return to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon appointed governor of the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people. Or go wherever you think it right to go.” So the captain of the guard gave him an allowance of food and a present, and let him go.
  215. If you will remain in this land, then I will build you up and not pull you down; I will plant you, and not pluck you up; for I relent of the disaster that I did to you.
  216. But if you say, ‘We will not remain in this land,’ disobeying the voice of the Lord your God
  217. then hear the word of the Lord, O remnant of Judah. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: If you set your faces to enter Egypt and go to live there,
  218. But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.
  219. But if you warn the righteous person not to sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning, and you will have delivered your soul.”
  220. “As for you, O house of Israel, thus says the Lord God: Go serve every one of you his idols, now and hereafter, if you will not listen to me; but my holy name you shall no more profane with your gifts and your idols.
  221. For it will not be a testing—what could it do if you despise the rod?” declares the Lord God.
  222. But if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, that person shall die in his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.
  223. The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, “The word from me is firm: if you do not make known to me the dream and its interpretation, you shall be torn limb from limb, and your houses shall be laid in ruins.
  224. But if you show the dream and its interpretation, you shall receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor. Therefore show me the dream and its interpretation.”
  225. if you do not make the dream known to me, there is but one sentence for you. You have agreed to speak lying and corrupt words before me till the times change. Therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that you can show me its interpretation.”
  226. Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?”
  227. But I have heard that you can give interpretations and solve problems. Now if you can read the writing and make known to me its interpretation, you shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold around your neck and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”
  228. “What are you to me, O Tyre and Sidon, and all the regions of Philistia? Are you paying me back for something? If you are paying me back, I will return your payment on your own head swiftly and speedily.
  229. “Thus says the Lord of hosts: If you will walk in my ways and keep my charge, then you shall rule my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you the right of access among those who are standing here.
  230. “And those who are far off shall come and help to build the temple of the Lord. And you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you. And this shall come to pass, if you will diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God.”
  231. If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart.
  232. And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.”
  233. and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”
  234. And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.”
  235. So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,
  236. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
  237. And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?
  238. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you,
  239. but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
  240. If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
  241. And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.”
  242. And the demons begged him, saying, “If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of pigs.”
  243. and if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come.
  244. And if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless.
  245. And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
  246. He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
  247. So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.”
  248. And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.”
  249. Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
  250. And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.
  251. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
  252. Jesus answered them, “I also will ask you one question, and if you tell me the answer, then I also will tell you by what authority I do these things.
  253. But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to him, “I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.”
  254. and saying, “You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”
  255. Jesus Cleanses a Leper

And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.”
  256. And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
  257. And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.”
  258. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”
  259. The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
  260. If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.”
  261. And he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,
  262. Jesus Cleanses a Leper

While he was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.”
  263. If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
  264. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
  265. And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount.
  266. If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
  267. And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own?
  268. And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
  269. saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
  270. If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe,
  271. and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!”
  272. They asked him, “Then why are you baptizing, if you are neither the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”
  273. Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”
  274. For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me.
  275. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”
  276. Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
  277. For no one works in secret if he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world.”
  278. They said to him therefore, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”
  279. The Truth Will Set You Free

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,
  280. You Are of Your Father the Devil

They answered him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham's children, you would be doing the works Abraham did,
  281. Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, ‘We see,’ your guilt remains.
  282. So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
  283. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
  284. Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
  285. Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?”
  286. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
  287. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
  288. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
  289. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
  290. Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
  291. You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
  292. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
  293. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
  294. You are my friends if you do what I command you.
  295. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
  296. Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. So, if you seek me, let these men go.”
  297. From then on Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are not Caesar's friend. Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.”
  298. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.”
  299. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”
  300. After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent a message to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, say it.”
  301. that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.”
  302. And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us.
  303. But if you seek anything further, it shall be settled in the regular assembly.
  304. But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God
  305. and if you are sure that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
  306. For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.
  307. Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?
  308. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
  309. because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
  310. do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.
  311. For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree.
  312. for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer.
  313. For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?
  314. So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church?
  315. Were you a bondservant when called? Do not be concerned about it. (But if you can gain your freedom, avail yourself of the opportunity.)
  316. But if you do marry, you have not sinned, and if a betrothed woman marries, she has not sinned. Yet those who marry will have worldly troubles, and I would spare you that.
  317. Otherwise, if you give thanks with your spirit, how can anyone in the position of an outsider say “Amen” to your thanksgiving when he does not know what you are saying?
  318. and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
  319. For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.
  320. Paul's Sufferings as an Apostle

I repeat, let no one think me foolish. But even if you do, accept me as a fool, so that I too may boast a little.
  321. But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, “If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”
  322. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.
  323. Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you.
  324. But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.
  325. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
  326. If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations—
  327. For now we live, if you are standing fast in the Lord.
  328. A Good Servant of Christ Jesus

If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed.
  329. So if you consider me your partner, receive him as you would receive me.
  330. A Rest for the People of God

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear his voice,
  331. As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
  332. again he appoints a certain day, “Today,” saying through David so long afterward, in the words already quoted, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”
  333. If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.
  334. and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,”
  335. If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.
  336. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
  337. For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
  338. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth.
  339. Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
  340. And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile,
  341. as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening.
  342. Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good?
  343. But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,
  344. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
  345. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.
  346. If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.
  347. Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.
