  17. But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name, a word which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’
  18. and do not turn aside from any of the words which I am commanding you today, to the right or the left, to pursue other gods to serve them.
  19. The Lord will bring you and your king, whom you appoint over you, to a nation that neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods, made of wood and stone.
  20. Furthermore, the Lord will scatter you among all the peoples, from one end of the earth to the other; and there you will serve other gods, made of wood and stone, which you and your fathers have not known.
  21. And they went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods that they have not known and whom He had not assigned to them.
  22. But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but allow yourself to be led astray and you worship other gods and serve them,
  23. But I will assuredly hide My face on that day because of all the evil that they will have done, for they will have turned away to other gods.
  24. For when I bring them into the land flowing with milk and honey, which I swore to their fathers, and they eat and are satisfied and become prosperous, then they will turn to other gods and serve them, and spurn Me and break My covenant.
  25. When you violate the covenant of the Lord your God, which He commanded you, and you go and serve other gods and bow down to them, then the anger of the Lord will burn against you, and you will perish quickly from the good land which He has given you.”
