  1. The Israelites Oppressed

    These are the names of the sons of Israel who went to Egypt with Jacob, each with his family:
  2. So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh.
  3. But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites

  20. “You have not cheated or oppressed us,” they replied. “You have not taken anything from anyone’s hand.”
  21. And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning
  22. Then Jehoahaz sought the Lord’s favor, and the Lord listened to him, for he saw how severely the king of Aram was oppressing Israel.
  23. Hazael king of Aram oppressed Israel throughout the reign of Jehoahaz.
