Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)

So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company:

I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness you have shown your servant. I had only my staff when I crossed this Jordan, but now I have become two camps.

When they reached the threshing floor of Atad, near the Jordan, they lamented loudly and bitterly; and there Joseph observed a seven-day period of mourning for his father.

Then the Israelites traveled to the plains of Moab and camped along the Jordan across from Jericho.

So on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho, Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them and said,

These are the ones counted by Moses and Eleazar the priest when they counted the Israelites on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.

and brought the captives, spoils and plunder to Moses and Eleazar the priest and the Israelite assembly at their camp on the plains of Moab, by the Jordan across from Jericho.

If we have found favor in your eyes,” they said, “let this land be given to your servants as our possession. Do not make us cross the Jordan.”

We will not receive any inheritance with them on the other side of the Jordan, because our inheritance has come to us on the east side of the Jordan.”

and if all of you who are armed cross over the Jordan before the Lord until he has driven his enemies out before him—

He said to them, “If the Gadites and Reubenites, every man armed for battle, cross over the Jordan with you before the Lord, then when the land is subdued before you, you must give them the land of Gilead as their possession.

We will cross over before the Lord into Canaan armed, but the property we inherit will be on this side of the Jordan.”

They left the mountains of Abarim and camped on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.

There on the plains of Moab they camped along the Jordan from Beth Jeshimoth to Abel Shittim.

On the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho the Lord said to Moses,
-
“Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you cross the Jordan into Canaan,
-
Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Dead Sea. “‘This will be your land, with its boundaries on every side.’”
-
These two and a half tribes have received their inheritance east of the Jordan across from Jericho, toward the sunrise.”

Towns for the Levites
On the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho, the Lord said to Moses,
-
“Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you cross the Jordan into Canaan,
-
Give three on this side of the Jordan and three in Canaan as cities of refuge.
-
These are the commands and regulations the Lord gave through Moses to the Israelites on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.
