  1. So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life.
  2. Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life.
  3. So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.

  9. But his mother said to him, “Let your curse be on me, my son; only obey my voice, and go, get them for me.”
  10. Let peoples serve you, And nations bow down to you. Be master over your brethren, And let your mother’s sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, And blessed be those who bless you!”

  16. And the Israelite woman’s son blasphemed the name of the Lord and cursed; and so they brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.)
  17. “Take outside the camp him who has cursed; then let all who heard him lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
  18. “Then you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin.
  19. Then Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and they took outside the camp him who had cursed, and stoned him with stones. So the children of Israel did as the Lord commanded Moses.
  20. Then the priest shall stand the woman before the Lord, uncover the woman’s head, and put the offering for remembering in her hands, which is the grain offering of jealousy. And the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that brings a curse.
  21. And the priest shall put her under oath, and say to the woman, “If no man has lain with you, and if you have not gone astray to uncleanness while under your husband’s authority, be free from this bitter water that brings a curse.
  22. then the priest shall put the woman under the oath of the curse, and he shall say to the woman—“the Lord make you a curse and an oath among your people, when the Lord makes your thigh rot and your belly swell;
  23. and may this water that causes the curse go into your stomach, and make your belly swell and your thigh rot.” ‘Then the woman shall say, “Amen, so be it.”
  24. ‘Then the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall scrape them off into the bitter water.
  25. And he shall make the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and the water that brings the curse shall enter her to become bitter.
