  1. Move to Galilee

    Now when Jesus heard that John was arrested, he went to Galilee.
  2. They were plotting to arrest Jesus by cunning tricks and to kill him.
  3. Arrest

    While Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, came. With him was a large crowd carrying swords and clubs. They had been sent by the chief priests and elders of the people.
  4. But Jesus said to him, “Friend, do what you came to do.” Then they came and grabbed Jesus and arrested him.

    After John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee announcing God’s good news,
  8. They wanted to arrest Jesus because they knew that he had told the parable against them. But they were afraid of the crowd, so they left him and went away.
  9. Preparation for burial

    It was two days before Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread. The chief priests and legal experts through cunning tricks were searching for a way to arrest Jesus and kill him.
  10. Arrest

    Suddenly, while Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, came with a mob carrying swords and clubs. They had been sent by the chief priests, legal experts, and elders.
  11. Then they came and grabbed Jesus and arrested him.
  12. Jesus responded, “Have you come with swords and clubs to arrest me, like an outlaw?
  13. Everyone was overwhelmed by God’s greatness.

    Jesus warns about his arrest

    While everyone was marveling at everything he was doing, Jesus said to his disciples,
  14. Jesusarrest

    While Jesus was still speaking, a crowd appeared, and the one called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him.
  15. Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders who had come to get him, “Have you come with swords and clubs to arrest me, as though I were a thief?
  16. Peter denies knowing Jesus

    After they arrested Jesus, they led him away and brought him to the high priest’s house. Peter followed from a distance.
  17. The Pharisees heard the crowd whispering such things about Jesus, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent guards to arrest him.
  18. Arrest in the garden

    After he said these things, Jesus went out with his disciples and crossed over to the other side of the Kidron Valley. He and his disciples entered a garden there.
  19. Jesus replied, “My kingdom doesn’t originate from this world. If it did, my guards would fight so that I wouldn’t have been arrested by the Jewish leaders. My kingdom isn’t from here.”
  20. “Brothers and sisters, the scripture that the Holy Spirit announced beforehand through David had to be fulfilled. This was the scripture concerning Judas, who became a guide for those who arrested Jesus.
  21. Paul replied, “Why are you doing this? Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I’m ready not only to be arrested but even to die in Jerusalem for the sake of the name of the Lord Jesus.”
