  1. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free.
  2. “But if the servant declares, ‘I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,’
  3. My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless.
  4. maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.”

  6. The thigh that was presented and the breast that was waved must be brought with the fat portions of the food offerings, to be waved before the Lord as a wave offering. This will be the perpetual share for you and your children, as the Lord has commanded.”
  7. “‘Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molek, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord.
  8. “Say to the Israelites: ‘Any Israelite or any foreigner residing in Israel who sacrifices any of his children to Molek is to be put to death. The members of the community are to stone him.
  9. I myself will set my face against him and will cut him off from his people; for by sacrificing his children to Molek, he has defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name.
  10. If the members of the community close their eyes when that man sacrifices one of his children to Molek and if they fail to put him to death,
  11. But if a priest’s daughter becomes a widow or is divorced, yet has no children, and she returns to live in her father’s household as in her youth, she may eat her father’s food. No unauthorized person, however, may eat it.
  12. Then they and their children are to be released, and they will go back to their own clans and to the property of their ancestors.
  13. You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.
  14. “‘Even if someone is not redeemed in any of these ways, they and their children are to be released in the Year of Jubilee,
  15. I will send wild animals against you, and they will rob you of your children, destroy your cattle and make you so few in number that your roads will be deserted.
  16. If, however, the woman has not made herself impure, but is clean, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children.
  17. Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?”
  18. ‘The Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.’
  19. As for your children that you said would be taken as plunder, I will bring them in to enjoy the land you have rejected.
  20. Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness.
  21. So they moved away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram. Dathan and Abiram had come out and were standing with their wives, children and little ones at the entrances to their tents.
  22. The Israelites captured the Midianite women and children and took all the Midianite herds, flocks and goods as plunder.
  23. Then they came up to him and said, “We would like to build pens here for our livestock and cities for our women and children.
  24. But we will arm ourselves for battle and go ahead of the Israelites until we have brought them to their place. Meanwhile our women and children will live in fortified cities, for protection from the inhabitants of the land.
  25. Build cities for your women and children, and pens for your flocks, but do what you have promised.”
