    Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.
  74. From their callous hearts comes iniquity; their evil imaginations have no limits.
  75. Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure and have washed my hands in innocence.
  76. When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered,
  77. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
  78. They said in their hearts, “We will crush them completely!” They burned every place where God was worshiped in the land.
  79. I remembered my songs in the night. My heart meditated and my spirit asked:
  80. They would not be like their ancestors— a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him.
  81. their hearts were not loyal to him, they were not faithful to his covenant.
  82. And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.
  83. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices.
