    Now on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. When all the leaders of the congregation came and told Moses,
  2. then he said to them, “This is what the Lord meant: Tomorrow is a Sabbath observance, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. Bake what you will bake and boil what you will boil, and all that is left over put aside to be kept until morning.”
  3. Then Moses said, “Eat it today, for today is a Sabbath to the Lord; today you will not find it in the field.
  4. Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, there will be none.”
  5. See, the Lord has given you the Sabbath; for that reason He gives you bread for two days on the sixth day. Remain, everyone, in his place; no one is to leave his place on the seventh day.”

  7. but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; on it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male slave or your female slave, or your cattle, or your resident who stays with you.
  8. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and everything that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day; for that reason the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

    “Now you shall sow your land for six years and gather in its yield,
  10. The Sign of the Sabbath

    Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
  11. “Now as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘You must keep My Sabbaths; for this is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, so that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.
  12. Therefore you are to keep the Sabbath, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it must be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people.
  13. For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord; whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death.
  14. So the sons of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to celebrate the Sabbath throughout their generations as a permanent covenant.’
  15. The Sabbath Emphasized

    Then Moses assembled all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and said to them, “These are the things that the Lord has commanded you to do:
  16. “For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a holy day, a Sabbath of complete rest to the Lord; whoever does any work on it shall be put to death.
  17. You shall not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”
  18. It is to be a Sabbath of solemn rest for you, so that you may humble yourselves; it is a permanent statute.
  19. Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and you shall keep My Sabbaths; I am the Lord your God.
  20. You shall keep My Sabbaths and revere My sanctuary; I am the Lord.
  21. ‘For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation. You shall not do any work; it is a Sabbath to the Lord in all your dwellings.
  22. He shall wave the sheaf before the Lord for you to be accepted; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.
  23. ‘You shall also count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete Sabbaths.
  24. You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall present a new grain offering to the Lord.
  25. It is to be a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall humble yourselves; on the ninth of the month at evening, from evening until evening, you shall keep your Sabbath.”
