  1. The king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and Jehudi brought it from the room of Elishama the secretary and read it to the king and all the officials standing beside him.
  2. Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king cut them off with a scribe’s knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire.
  3. “Take another scroll and write on it all the words that were on the first scroll, which Jehoiakim king of Judah burned up.

  6. So Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to the scribe Baruch son of Neriah, and as Jeremiah dictated, Baruch wrote on it all the words of the scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And many similar words were added to them.

  11. Concerning Egypt: This is the message against the army of Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt, which was defeated at Carchemish on the Euphrates River by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah:
  12. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, just as Jehoiakim had done.
  13. Jehoiachin Released

    In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the year Awel-Marduk became king of Babylon, on the twenty-fifth day of the twelfth month, he released Jehoiachin king of Judah and freed him from prison.
  14. So Jehoiachin put aside his prison clothes and for the rest of his life ate regularly at the king’s table.
  15. Day by day the king of Babylon gave Jehoiachin a regular allowance as long as he lived, till the day of his death.
