  1. But Saul and the army spared Agag and the best of the sheep and cattle, the fat calves and lambs—everything that was good. These they were unwilling to destroy completely, but everything that was despised and weak they totally destroyed.

  10. The day after tomorrow, toward evening, go to the place where you hid when this trouble began, and wait by the stone Ezel.
  11. David replied, “Indeed women have been kept from us, as usual whenever I set out. The men’s bodies are holy even on missions that are not holy. How much more so today!”
  12. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “My father Saul will not lay a hand on you. You will be king over Israel, and I will be second to you. Even my father Saul knows this.”
  13. David’s men turned around and went back. When they arrived, they reported every word.
  14. May God deal with David, be it ever so severely, if by morning I leave alive one male of all who belong to him!”

  20. David fought them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled.
  21. David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives.
  22. Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back.
