  1. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

  6. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
  7. And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
  8. Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”
  9. The Seals

    I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!”
  10. When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!”
  11. When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand.
  12. When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!”
  13. When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained.
  14. I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red,
  15. 144,000 Sealed

    After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.
  16. Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea:
  17. “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.”
  18. Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.
  19. From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed, from the tribe of Reuben 12,000, from the tribe of Gad 12,000,
  20. The Seventh Seal and the Golden Censer

    When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
  21. The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood,
  22. a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
  23. They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
  24. He was holding a little scroll, which lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land,
  25. And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven say, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down.”
