    Samson went down to Timnah and saw there a young Philistine woman.

  12. His father and mother replied, “Isn’t there an acceptable woman among your relatives or among all our people? Must you go to the uncircumcised Philistines to get a wife?” But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me. She’s the right one for me.”
  13. Then he went down and talked with the woman, and he liked her.
  14. Now his father went down to see the woman. And there Samson held a feast, as was customary for young men.
  15. Some time later, he fell in love with a woman in the Valley of Sorek whose name was Delilah.
  16. His father-in-law, the woman’s father, prevailed on him to stay; so he remained with him three days, eating and drinking, and sleeping there.
  17. On the fourth day they got up early and he prepared to leave, but the woman’s father said to his son-in-law, “Refresh yourself with something to eat; then you can go.”
  18. So the two of them sat down to eat and drink together. Afterward the woman’s father said, “Please stay tonight and enjoy yourself.”
  19. On the morning of the fifth day, when he rose to go, the woman’s father said, “Refresh yourself. Wait till afternoon!” So the two of them ate together.
  20. Then when the man, with his concubine and his servant, got up to leave, his father-in-law, the woman’s father, said, “Now look, it’s almost evening. Spend the night here; the day is nearly over. Stay and enjoy yourself. Early tomorrow morning you can get up and be on your way home.”
  21. We have both straw and fodder for our donkeys and bread and wine for ourselves your servants—me, the woman and the young man with us. We don’t need anything.”
  22. At daybreak the woman went back to the house where her master was staying, fell down at the door and lay there until daylight.
  23. So the Levite, the husband of the murdered woman, said, “I and my concubine came to Gibeah in Benjamin to spend the night.
  24. “This is what you are to do,” they said. “Kill every male and every woman who is not a virgin.”
