  1. Light and Darkness, Sin and Forgiveness

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
  2. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
  3. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
  4. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.
  5. As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.
  6. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
  7. All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death.
