  4. The Untamable Tongue

My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.
  5. For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.
  6. Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.

  16. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.
  17. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.
  18. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
  19. Pride Promotes Strife

Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?
  20. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
  21. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?
  22. But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
  23. Humility Cures Worldliness

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
  24. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
  25. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
