  1. God’s Final Word: His Son

    In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
  2. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
  3. For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.”
  4. For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
  5. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!
  6. who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age
  7. And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
  8. to a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them,
  9. to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
  10. The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.
  11. Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
  12. Brothers and sisters, I urge you to bear with my word of exhortation, for in fact I have written to you quite briefly.
