  1. Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in all Achaia:
  2. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort,
  3. who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted by God.
  4. For all the promises of God in Him are “yea”; and in Him “amen” unto the glory of God by us.
  5. And I wrote as I did unto you lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from those of whom I ought to rejoice, having confidence in you all that my joy is the joy of you all.
  6. But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part” that I may not overburden you all.
  7. For to this end also did I write, that I might have proof from you, whether ye be obedient in all things.
  8. Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men;
  9. But we all, with uncovered face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
  10. For all things are for your sakes, that, through the thanksgiving of many, the abundant grace might redound to the glory of God.
  11. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to what he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
  12. For the love of Christ constraineth us, because we thus judge that if One died for all, then all were dead;
  13. and that He died for all, that those who live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him who died for them and rose again.
  14. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new.
  15. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation,
  16. but in all things commending ourselves as the ministers of God in much patience: in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
  17. as sorrowful yet always rejoicing; as poor yet making many rich, as having nothing and yet possessing all things.
  18. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
  19. Great is my boldness of speech toward you; great is my glorying of you. I am filled with comfort; I am exceedingly joyful in all our tribulation.
  20. For behold this selfsame thing, when ye sorrowed in a godly manner: what earnest concern it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what requital! In all these things ye have proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.
  21. Therefore we were comforted in your comfort. Yea, we rejoiced exceedingly more for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.
  22. For if I have boasted anything to him of you, I am not ashamed, but as we spoke all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which I made before Titus, is found to be true.
  23. And his inward affection is more abundant toward you whilst he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.
  24. I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all things.
  25. Therefore as ye abound in everything — in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us — see that ye abound in this grace also.
