  1. my spirit was not at rest because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I took leave of them and went on to Macedonia.
  2. But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.
  3. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing,
  4. to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?
  5. For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.
  6. Ministers of the New Covenant

Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you, or from you?
  7. And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
  8. Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God.
  9. Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God,
  10. who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
  11. Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses' face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end,
  12. will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory?
  13. Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it.
  14. Since we have such a hope, we are very bold,
  15. not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end.
  16. But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away.
  17. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
  18. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
  19. But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.
  20. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
  21. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.
  22. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
  23. Treasure in Jars of Clay

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
  24. persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
  25. always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.
