  1. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

  13. But he who is married cares about the things of the world—how he may please his wife.
  14. There is a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world—how she may please her husband.
  15. Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
  16. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
  17. There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without significance.
