  1. The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line,
  2. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”
  3. He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.
  4. And this is the message I proclaim—that the day is coming when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge everyone’s secret life.
  5. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past,
  6. That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, “I have made you the father of many nations.” This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing.
  7. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.
  8. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.
  9. Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.
  10. So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  11. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.
  12. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.
  13. But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.
  14. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
  15. At one time I lived without understanding the law. But when I learned the command not to covet, for instance, the power of sin came to life,
  16. and I died. So I discovered that the law’s commands, which were supposed to bring life, brought spiritual death instead.
  17. I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.
  18. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?
  19. Life in the Spirit

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
  20. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
  21. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
  22. And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.
  23. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
  24. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
  25. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.
  26. And don’t say, ‘Who will go down to the place of the dead?’ (to bring Christ back to life again).”
  27. For since their rejection meant that God offered salvation to the rest of the world, their acceptance will be even more wonderful. It will be life for those who were dead!
  28. For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
