  1. So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.
  2. The Righteous Shall Live by Faith

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
  3. There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek,
  4. but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek.
  5. God's Judgment and the Law

For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.
  6. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them
  7. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also,
  8. just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:
  9. Is this blessing then only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? For we say that faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness.
  10. and to make him the father of the circumcised who are not merely circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.
  11. That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring—not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,
  12. but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord,
  13. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
  14. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
  15. so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  16. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.
  17. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
  18. Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.
  19. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
  20. and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
  21. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
  22. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
  23. He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
  24. And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac,
  25. even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?
  26. so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy.
  27. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.
  28. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.
  29. For they were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have come to share in their spiritual blessings, they ought also to be of service to them in material blessings.
  30. Greet also the church in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who was the first convert to Christ in Asia.
  31. Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord; also his mother, who has been a mother to me as well.
