  1. When they had carried out everything that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb.
  2. and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.

  7. Second Missionary Journey

    After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let’s return and visit the brothers and sisters in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, and see how they are.”
  8. and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains were unfastened.
  9. So he was reasoning in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Gentiles, and in the marketplace every day with those who happened to be present.
  10. The God who made the world and everything that is in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made by hands;
  11. and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,
  12. for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His descendants.’
  13. So having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now proclaiming to mankind that all people everywhere are to repent,
  14. Paul in Corinth

    After these events Paul left Athens and went to Corinth.
  15. And Paul was reasoning in the synagogue every Sabbath and trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.
  16. He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said to him, “On the contrary, we have not even heard if there is a Holy Spirit.”
  17. so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out.
  18. And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they added up the prices of the books and found it to be fifty thousand pieces of silver.
  19. Not only is there danger that this trade of ours will fall into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be regarded as worthless, and that she whom all of Asia and the world worship will even be dethroned from her magnificence.”
  20. For indeed, we are in danger of being accused of a riot in connection with today’s events, since there is no real reason for it, and in this connection we will be unable to account for this disorderly gathering.”
  21. except that the Holy Spirit solemnly testifies to me in every city, saying that chains and afflictions await me.
  22. In everything I showed you that by working hard in this way you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
  23. Then Paul replied, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
  24. take them along and purify yourself together with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads; and then everyone will know that there is nothing to what they have been told about you, but that you yourself also conform, keeping the Law.
  25. crying out, “Men of Israel, help! This is the man who instructs everyone everywhere against our people and the Law and this place; and besides, he has even brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place!”
