  1. He said to them, “Come and you will see.” So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.

  10. So Jesus said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me.
  11. and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
  12. They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”
  13. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
  14. Jesus answered him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.”

    After saying these things, Jesus was troubled in his spirit, and testified, “Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”

  29. Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy.
  30. In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
  31. Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
  32. In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf;
  33. Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.
  34. I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
  35. So Pilate said to him, “You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?”
  36. He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish.
  37. Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.”
