  1. These things took place in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

  22. So he said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”
  23. So the Jews said, “Will he kill himself, since he says, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come’ ?”
  24. They said to him, “Where is he?” He said, “I do not know.”
  25. We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he comes from.”
  26. The man answered, “Why, this is an amazing thing! You do not know where he comes from, and yet he opened my eyes.
  27. He went away again across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing at first, and there he remained.
  28. So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.

  46. Many of the Jews read this inscription, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Aramaic, in Latin, and in Greek.
  47. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.
  48. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.”
  49. And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet.
  50. They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.”
  51. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.”
  52. Jesus Appears to the Disciples

    On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
  53. Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.”
