The Samaritan woman asked, “Why do you, a Jewish man, ask for something to drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (Jews and Samaritans didn’t associate with each other.)
-
You and your people worship what you don’t know; we worship what we know because salvation is from the Jews.
-
Then the Jews debated among themselves, asking, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

Children of Abraham
Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teaching.
-
There was another division among the Jews because of Jesus’ words.
-
Many Jews had come to comfort Martha and Mary after their brother’s death.
-
When the Jews who were comforting Mary in the house saw her get up quickly and leave, they followed her. They assumed she was going to mourn at the tomb.
-
When Jesus saw her crying and the Jews who had come with her crying also, he was deeply disturbed and troubled.
-
The Jews said, “See how much he loved him!”
-
Therefore, many of the Jews who came with Mary and saw what Jesus did believed in him.
-
Many Jews learned that he was there. They came not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
-
It was because of Lazarus that many of the Jews had deserted them and come to believe in Jesus.
-
Jesus answered, “I’ve spoken openly to the world. I’ve always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all the Jews gather. I’ve said nothing in private.

Pilate questions Jesus
Pilate went back into the palace. He summoned Jesus and asked, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
-
You have a custom that I release one prisoner for you at Passover. Do you want me to release for you the king of the Jews?”
-
Over and over they went up to him and said, “Greetings, king of the Jews!” And they slapped him in the face.
-
Pilate had a public notice written and posted on the cross. It read “Jesus the Nazarene, the king of the Jews.”
-
Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city and it was written in Aramaic, Latin, and Greek.
-
Therefore, the Jewish chief priests complained to Pilate, “Don’t write, ‘The king of the Jews’ but ‘This man said, “I am the king of the Jews.”’”
