  1. One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
  2. He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John; you shall be called Cephas” (which is translated Peter).

  9. Simon Peter *said to Him, “Lord, then wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!”
  10. So Simon Peter *nodded to this disciple and *said to him, “Tell us who it is of whom He is speaking.”
  11. Simon Peter *said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you cannot follow Me now; but you will follow later.”
  12. Peter *said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You right now? I will lay down my life for You.”
  13. Then Simon Peter, since he had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s slave, and cut off his right ear; and the slave’s name was Malchus.
  14. So Jesus said to Peter, “Put the sword into the sheath; the cup which the Father has given Me, am I not to drink it?”
  15. Simon Peter was following Jesus, and so was another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and he entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest,
  16. but Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper, and brought Peter in.
  17. Then the slave woman who was the doorkeeper *said to Peter, “You are not also one of this Man’s disciples, are you?” He *said, “I am not.”
  18. Now the slaves and the officers were standing there, having made a charcoal fire, for it was cold and they were warming themselves; and Peter was also with them, standing and warming himself.
  19. Peter’s Denial of Jesus

    Now Simon Peter was still standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “You are not one of His disciples as well, are you?” He denied it, and said, “I am not.”
  20. One of the slaves of the high priest, who was related to the one whose ear Peter cut off, *said, “Did I not see you in the garden with Him?”
  21. Peter then denied it again, and immediately a rooster crowed.
  22. So she *ran and *came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and *said to them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we do not know where they have put Him.”
  23. So Peter and the other disciple left, and they were going to the tomb.
  24. The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead, faster than Peter, and came to the tomb first;
  25. So Simon Peter also *came, following him, and he entered the tomb; and he *looked at the linen wrappings lying there,
