The Consequences of Rebelling against God
“Hear, O Israel; you are to pass over the Jordan this day, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves, cities great and fortified up to heaven,

let me alone, that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.’

Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it;

Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons; and now the Lord your God has made you as the stars of heaven for multitude.

but the land which you are going over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water by the rain from heaven,

and the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and he shut up the heavens, so that there be no rain, and the land yield no fruit, and you perish quickly off the good land which the Lord gives you.

that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.

and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or the sun or the moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have forbidden,

Therefore when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your enemies round about, in the land which the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance to possess, you shall blot out the remembrance of Am′alek from under heaven; you shall not forget.

Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel and the ground which thou hast given us, as thou didst swear to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.’

The Lord will open to you his good treasury the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

And the heavens over your head shall be brass, and the earth under you shall be iron.

The Lord will make the rain of your land powder and dust; from heaven it shall come down upon you until you are destroyed.
