  1. He declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments, which he commanded you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets.
  2. There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.
  3. These are the commandments the Lord proclaimed in a loud voice to your whole assembly there on the mountain from out of the fire, the cloud and the deep darkness; and he added nothing more. Then he wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.

  6. The Lord gave me two stone tablets inscribed by the finger of God. On them were all the commandments the Lord proclaimed to you on the mountain out of the fire, on the day of the assembly.
  7. At the end of the forty days and forty nights, the Lord gave me the two stone tablets, the tablets of the covenant.
  8. Tablets Like the First Ones

    At that time the Lord said to me, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones and come up to me on the mountain. Also make a wooden ark.
  9. So I made the ark out of acacia wood and chiseled out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hands.
  10. Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and burn their Asherah poles in the fire; cut down the idols of their gods and wipe out their names from those places.
  11. Stone them to death, because they tried to turn you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

  21. And you shall write very clearly all the words of this law on these stones you have set up.”
  22. “Cursed is anyone who moves their neighbor’s boundary stone.” Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
  23. The Lord will drive you and the king you set over you to a nation unknown to you or your ancestors. There you will worship other gods, gods of wood and stone.
  24. Then the Lord will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other. There you will worship other gods—gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.
  25. You saw among them their detestable images and idols of wood and stone, of silver and gold.
