  1. “The Lord our God spoke to us at Horeb, saying, ‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain.
  2. “Then we set out from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness that you saw on the way to the hill country of the Amorites, just as the Lord our God had commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.

  8. From Aroer which is on the edge of the Valley of Arnon and from the city which is in the valley, even to Gilead, there was no city that was too high for us; the Lord our God turned it all over to us.
  9. Only you did not go near the land of the sons of Ammon, all along the river Jabbok and the cities of the hill country, and wherever the Lord our God had commanded us to avoid.

  16. “Hear, Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!
  17. “When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What do the provisions and the statutes and the judgments mean which the Lord our God commanded you?’
  18. So the Lord commanded us to follow all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God for our own good always and for our survival, as it is today.
  19. And it will be righteousness for us if we are careful to follow all this commandment before the Lord our God, just as He commanded us.
  20. And you shall go to the priest who is in office at that time and say to him, ‘I declare today to the Lord my God that I have entered the land which the Lord swore to our fathers to give us.’
  21. Then we cried out to the Lord, the God of our fathers, and the Lord heard our voice and saw our wretched condition, our trouble, and our oppression;
  22. but both with those who stand here with us today in the presence of the Lord our God, and with those who are not with us here today
  23. so that there will not be among you a man or woman, or family or tribe, whose heart turns away today from the Lord our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; that there will not be among you a root bearing poisonous fruit and wormwood.
  24. “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, so that we may follow all the words of this Law.
  25. For I proclaim the name of the Lord; Ascribe greatness to our God!
