  215. So Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.
  216. When he learned that Jesus was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.
  217. When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him. From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform a sign of some sort.
  218. He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer.

  221. The Crucifixion of Jesus

As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.
  222. Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children.
  223. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
  224. Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
  225. Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
  226. The Death of Jesus

It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon,

  228. The Burial of Jesus

Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man,
  229. Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body.
  230. The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it.
  231. Jesus Has Risen

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb.
  232. but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
  233. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them;
  234. “What things?” he asked. “About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.
  235. Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”
  236. As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther.
  237. Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.
  238. Jesus Appears to the Disciples

While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
  239. The Ascension of Jesus

When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them.
