and for forty days was tempted by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward when they were ended, He hungered.

And the devil said unto Him, “If Thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.”

And the devil, taking Him up onto a high mountain, showed unto Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

And the devil said unto Him, “All this power will I give Thee, and the glory of them; for this has been delivered unto me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it.

And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a season.

And in the synagogue there was a man, who had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Hold thy peace, and come out of him!” And when the devil had thrown him in their midst, he came out of him and hurt him not.

And devils also came out of many, crying out and saying, “Thou art Christ, the Son of God!” And He, rebuking them, suffered them not to speak; for they knew that He was Christ.

For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and ye say, ‘He hath a devil.’

and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

Those by the wayside are they that hear; then cometh the devil and taketh away the Word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

And when He went forth to land, there met Him from the city a certain man who had had devils a long time, and wore no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

(For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him, and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he broke the bands and was driven by the devil into the wilderness.)

And Jesus asked him, saying, “What is thy name?” And he said, “Legion,” because many devils had entered into him.

Then went the devils out of the man and entered into the swine, and the herd ran violently down a steep slope into the lake and were choked.

Then they went out to see what was done. And they came to Jesus, and found the man out of whom the devils had departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind. And they were afraid.

Those also who had seen it told them by what means he that had been possessed by the devils was healed.

Now the man out of whom the devils had departed besought Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying,

Then He called His twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases.

And as he was yet coming, the devil threw him down and tore him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

And John answered and said, “Master, we saw one casting out devils in Thy name, and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.”

And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, “Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through Thy name.”

And He was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass when the devil had gone out, the dumb one spoke; and the people wondered.

But some of them said, “He casteth out devils through Beelzebub, the chief of the devils.”

If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand — because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub?
