  1. But when Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!”
  2. Simon, whom He also named Peter, and his brother Andrew; and James and John; and Philip and Bartholomew;
  3. And Jesus said, “Who is the one who touched Me?” And while they were all denying it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing in on You.”

    About eight days after these sayings, He took along Peter, John, and James, and went up on the mountain to pray.
  8. Now Peter and his companions had been overcome with sleep; but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who were standing with Him.
  9. And as these two men were leaving Him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here; and let’s make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not realizing what he was saying.
  10. Peter said, “Lord, are You telling this parable to us, or to everyone else as well?”
  11. Peter said, “Behold, we have left our own homes and followed You.”
  12. And so Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it.”
  13. But He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.”
  14. Jesus’ Arrest

    Now they arrested Him and led Him away, and brought Him to the house of the high priest; but Peter was following at a distance.
  15. After they kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter was sitting among them.
  16. And a little later, another person saw him and said, “You are one of them too!” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!”
  17. But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about!” And immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
  18. And then the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, “Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.”
  19. Nevertheless, Peter got up and ran to the tomb; and when he stooped and looked in, he *saw the linen wrappings only; and he went away to his home, marveling at what had happened.
