As soon as He was alone, His followers, along with the twelve disciples, began asking Him about the parables.

And He was asking him, “What is your name?” And he *said to Him, “My name is Legion, for we are many.”

and when the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests; and the king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever you want, and I will give it to you.”

And he swore to her, “Whatever you ask of me, I will give it to you, up to half of my kingdom.”

And she went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask for?” And she said, “The head of John the Baptist.”

Immediately she came in a hurry to the king and asked, saying, “I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”

And the Pharisees and the scribes *asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk in accordance with the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unholy hands?”

And when He later entered a house, away from the crowd, His disciples asked Him about the parable.

Now the woman was a Gentile, of Syrophoenician descent. And she repeatedly asked Him to cast the demon out of her daughter.

And He was asking them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven.”

Taking the man who was blind by the hand, He brought him out of the village; and after spitting in his eyes and laying His hands on him, He asked him, “Do you see anything?”

And they asked Him, saying, “Why is it that the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

And He asked them, “What are you disputing with them?”

And He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood.

When He came into the house, His disciples began asking Him privately, “Why is it that we could not cast it out?”

But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him.

The Rich Young Ruler
As He was setting out on a journey, a man ran up to Him and knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do so that I may inherit eternal life?”

James and John, the two sons of Zebedee, *came up to Jesus, saying to Him, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask of You.”

But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?”

Therefore, I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted to you.

But Jesus said to them, “I will ask you one question, and you answer Me, and then I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

One of the scribes came up and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, “What commandment is the foremost of all?”

And the crowd went up and began asking Pilate to do as he had been accustomed to do for them.

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to ask him to release Barabbas for them instead.

Joseph of Arimathea came, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself also waiting for the kingdom of God; and he gathered up courage and went in before Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.
