  1. The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
  2. Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
  3. And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
  4. Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

  13. And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
  14. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
  15. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
  16. Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
  17. But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
  18. And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
  19. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
  20. But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
  21. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
  22. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
  23. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
  24. And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
  25. And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
  26. And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
  27. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
  28. And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
  29. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
  30. And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
  31. And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.
  32. And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
  33. And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
  34. He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
  35. And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
  36. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
  37. And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
  38. And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
  39. For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.
  40. Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
  41. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
  42. And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
  43. Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
  44. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
